Book Description

18 Oct 2007
The video nasties scare was one of the more memorable, and unbelievable, media sensations of the 1980s. The influx of cheap foreign sex and gore shockers outraged the tabloids and the chattering classes, and led ultimately to the Video Recordings Act, which made Britain's already strict censorship laws some of the strongest in Europe. John Martin runs down the whys and wherefores of the entire scandal, and categorises the nasties, from Absurd! to Zombie Creeping Flesh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly wonderful 31 Dec 2010
I have to be honest, I ordered this for my husband and when it turned up I felt a little robbed. It is not very thick and I hadn't looked properly so I didn't realise it was paperback not hardback. However, my opinion changed completely when my Husband opened it and has hardly put it down since, there is no space wasted on each page and it goes into great detail regarding the whole scandal. There are even sections on where to get the films now and the different names that the same film may be advertised under. My Husband loves this book and is sure that anyone else interested in this genre would love it too.
