More About the Author

Jaishree Misra is a British author of Indian origin who has written six novels published by Penguin and Harper Collins, all Indian best-sellers.

Her third book, 'Rani', a historical novel based on the life of Rani Lakshmibai who fought the British in 1857, was banned by the Uttar Pradesh government in India.

Misra's most recent publishing contract is with the Avon imprint of Harper Collins in the UK and will be a trilogy, though not a series. The first two ('Secrets & Lies' and 'Secrets & Sins') were published in 2009 and 2010 and 'A Scandalous Secret' will be out in May 2011.

Until recently, Jaishree lived in the UK and worked at the British Board of Film Classification in London but she recently moved back to India in order to help set up a residential home for people with learning disabilities.

Praise for Jaishree's books:

'A blockbuster with heart. I loved it.'

'Truly captivating'
The Mirror

'This book was an emotional rollercoaster...a must-read.'
Closer

'I absolutely loved this book from the first page. Brilliant.'
The Sun

'It is no mean feat to whip out a story of about a hundred thousand words that hangs together and holds the interest of the reader, but Jaishree Misra manages it.'
Indian Express

'Dreams and dilemmas, success and failure, happiness and disillusionment, secrets and sins ... Jaishree Misra has all points covered in her deliciously warm and yet heartbreaking tale of two star-crossed lovers torn by the ties of loyalty, affection and duty. 'Secrets and Sins' is a contemporary morality tale, pitting the desire to follow one's heart against the obligations of home and family ...
... Misra's captivating novel is full of clever and thought-provoking contrasts - east and west, loyalty and betrayal, ambition and acceptance, passion and practicality. A charming and chastening story.'
Lancashire Evening Post

'For those who loved the bonding and the bitchery of girls in groups at schools such as the Sixth form at Mallory Towers or the going-on at the Chalet School are certain to fall upon Jaishree Misra's saga of the sisterhood with a sense of nostalgia bordering on delight. It's a highly satisfying romp into the secret pacts and passions that made the blunder years at convent schools such a never-to-be forgotten experience.'
India Today

'Misra has a knack for dialogues and for getting people's emotions down pat. I also liked the fact that she dealt with the strong bonds of female friends as the novel's main theme. Friendship is often overlooked for love or treated as a subplot, but here it's the very substance ... Reading Secrets and Lies was getting two of my favourite easy-read genres in one: a mystery novel and chick lit. This is something you should add to your rainy-day-with-a-cup-of-tea book list.'

After enjoying Jaishree Misra's other book, 'Secrets and Lies' I felt compelled to buy her new book and enjoyed every page of it.
Riva and Aman have a relationship in university, and the story centrals around what occurs when their lives become entwined.

The relationships between the characters are described beautifully, I love Misra's style of writing as it flows easily and you can easily read the book in one sitting, awaiting to see what happens next.

Would happily recommend this book to any women who enjoy a good read :)

I was expecting a bit more from this book - It had a good story line but seemed to be a bit lacking. I think it should have been more detailed.
