This review is from: Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker: v. 1: Fundamentals and How to Handle Varying Stack Sizes (D&B Poker Series) (Paperback)
I have read most poker books. I consider myself an above average experienced player. I am approx 3/4's of the way through this book and i must say I am pretty impressed so far. The wrting is concise and easy to understand. The maths is kept simple which for me is a must. I would advise lesser experienced players to be very aware that the advice given is totally relevant to the stack sizes Little is refering to and not to lose sight of this as you read.So far I rate the book highly and am looking forwards to the rest of it and have already back ordered V.2.

Solid game improver,

I'm currently trying to make the transition from STT's to MTT's (if you don't know what these 2 abbreviations stand for then don't bother buying this book). Jonothan provides a solid foundation with clearly written and easy to follow instructios for tournament play. Looking forward to volume 2.

This book does not do justice to the author,
This review is from: Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker: v. 1: Fundamentals and How to Handle Varying Stack Sizes (D&B Poker Series) (Paperback)
I am very disappointed with the book!! I think that the way the book has been written makes it kind of boring to read through. The materials provided are actually good and Jonathan Little is a very successfully player and is certainly one of the best teachers I have ever had. However I think that he teaches best through his videos and rather than through this book. So I would not recommend anyone to buy this book. I think you will be better off buying his training videos because he explains the hands in real time and things make more sense.I think that I could be described as one of his success stories because in February 2011 I bought his training videos on 180 man tournaments which you can find at http://colas18.jcardshark.hop.clickbank.net. From that day, I have been able to turn $100 into $4,000 in the space of 2 months. Then I watched some of his 9 man videos and moved to 9 man SnGs because I could not bare the variance of the 180 man tournaments which were also too long to play. You can see my results on sharkscope under colas_18. To do that I had to work hard though. I watched all 7 hours of his videos 2 times before starting playing the game. Then I would rewatch the videos when I hit a downturn and everytime I was learning something new while increasing my bankroll. And I think this is the way to improve. Watch the videos, practise and watch again. Each time you will understand the things he explains better and be able to apply it to your game. At the end of May 2011 my bankroll was at $7,600. I do not have enough time to play now but I have learnt so much and recovered my investment very quickly. That is why I wanted to share my experience and recommend people to buy his videos instead of the book. I know that the book is mainly for tournaments in live events. But in his videos he explains similar concepts clearer.
