Book Description

Many martial arts and qigong practices speak of the need to move from the center, to 'round the crotch', to open the Huiyin point, and to relax the waist and hips. Due to the "private" nature of this area of the body, there are few if any martial art teachers who publicly describe methods regarding how to achieve these results. And so the pelvic area (a.k.a. dan-tian or hara) remains the most difficult area of the body for many practitioners to understand, feel, relax, and open.

Essentially, this book is a tapestry of excerpts about the waist, hips and crotch. These excerpts are taken from martial arts, qigong, and other clinical books and articles about the pelvis that were written in both English and Chinese.

Woven with insights and practical tips from the author’s experience working this area of the body, this book echoes the fundamental internal martial art principles of relax, feel, and connect while providing a step-by-step guide to helping the practitioner develop understanding, feeling and relaxation in this key area of the body.

This is the first and only book dedicated to the topic of developing the pelvic area for the martial arts. You simply will not find this wealth of information, in one place, anywhere else!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good indeed 24 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book contains excellent research and comments on hugely important and traditionally neglected matters related to the lower body. It has validity far beyond martial arts and was very useful for me as a woman. The only thing l wondered about is the apologetic stance that the author takes occasionally - perhaps to fend off the excessive prudishness that Americans Arlene for. But l do not think one needs to be on the defensive.

Excellent book for furthering your martial arts knowledge and practice. Plenty of references to old master's and their writings. Written in an easy to read manner , with reminders that you only improve by practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book 13 Feb. 2015
By JSFens
I found this book very interesting. I came to it as a new student of tai chi but I believe that the information and insights contained in it will be of help to all that come to it with an interested and open mind and who are willing to explore and be attentive and perceptive. The author expounds what he has learnt through years of research and tai chi practice. He does so candidly and generously sharing with us his enthusiasm for the subject as well as lots of interesting links and bibliography. Very highly recommended.
