Lockpicking is not for me. The hobby does have some potential from the problem-solving angle but leaves me stone cold otherwise. However, I have given the book 5* because what it has given me is a very good insight into what makes for a good lock or a poor lock from the security viewpoint. Lock manufacturers frequently give lots of waffle about hardened this and reinforced that, but seldom offer any insight into what now appears to me to be the weakest part of the lock, i.e. its mechanism and how easily it may, or may not be defeated. This book certainly opened my eyes.
I have no idea how prevalent lockpicking is as a method of entry for criminal purposes, but I can recommend any houseowner to read this book from the viewpoint of home security and making life more difficult for the thief both at the entrance door and those locks that protect valuables once inside the house. Don't forget to have a chat with you local Crime Prevention Officer too.
