2.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but not so good 13 Dec 2010
I have followed Binnur's book and had 100% success with it and it was with great excitement that I bought this book. However, I have found it to be quite disappointing. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but the receipes just don't feel right - also for the cost, there isn't much of a book! If you want to make your first steps in cooking Turkish food, I would suggest Binnur

3.0 out of 5 stars OK 16 Jan 2014
The recipes are OK and there is step by step instructions but the quality of the book is poor for the price, quite thin paperback on poor quality paper so not a book to fall in love with!

The recipes are quite good but not earth shattering and I am quite disappointed that there are no desserts in the book:(

Very expensive for a thin paperback so probably better to buy on Kindle, not a book for collectors of nice books!

A brilliant 3 volume series of wonderful Turkish food filed with very clear step by step illustrations. Many of the recipes found everywhere in homes, tavernas and restaurants, and absolutely loved, and really covering the basic cuisine found everywhere. I can't recommend these books highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorite Turkish Recipe Book 7 Nov 2009
By A. Kirtok - Published on
Being originally from Turkey and living in the US, it is hard to find the authentic Turkish Recipes when we want.

I'm not a professional cook nor an expert in the field. As a regular person who cooks Turkish Food occasionally, I've found this Turkish Recipe book extremely helpful. The main reason is the step by step pictures of making each recipe.

I will be ordering a few extra to give it as a gift to a some of my friends during the holidays. Well done and highly recommended by me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Collection of Tasty Turkish Cooking!! 30 Jan 2013
By PraxDGreek - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
I wanted to surprise my wife for her birthday and cook something special and different. Unfortunately she is especially particular with her food so I figured Turkish was similar to Greek and I would be playing it safe. This recipe book was fantastic and my wife and I were both surprised at how tasty the dishes were. This was especially surprising since we are Greek! Now the only problem now is that my wife wants me to cook more often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! 7 Mar 2013

I love all the photos/illustrations! No nutrition included which I need for my health issues/diet needs. I do however know that I can use many of the recipes here. Some I might have to omit an ingredient or so but I like the idea of such wonderful flavors being perfectly good for someone like me with all the limits I have on my diet now. I plan to make the Baked Stuffed Tomatoes as soon as the garden tomatoes begin to ripen. Artichoke Hearts with Fava Bean Puree... wow! Also on my list of must prepare though I would have to omit the sugar. Chicken In Walnut Sauce looks great too... it does use white bread which is a no-no in my world. I use almond meal/flour in place of white bread or bread crumbs. Zucchini Patties will be a regular here also... also with almond meal/flour in place of breadcrumbs. Great Book!!!
4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Turkish recipes, lots of lamb 29 Jan 2013

Murat Yegul's The secrets of hearty turkish home cooking Vol 1 is a kindle version of a print cookbook. The formatting is excellent. The recipes are clearly laid out, with illustrations and pictures of the finished food. I had the ingredients for Izmir Kofte (meatballs in tomato sauce) which uses ground beef. The recipe was simple to follow and had common easily found ingredients. The ingredients are not hard to find, but there is quite a few lamb recipes.

The meatballs in tomato sauce were excellent. I was concerned about what I perceived as a lack of seasoning, but the recipe actually worked and was really good.

I can't wait to get eggplants, the Charred eggplant puree looks wonderful. Recipes include chicken, Veal, ground beef, lamb and vegetable entries with eggplants, beans, and tomatoes.
