Product Description

When young social worker Raina Hughes arrives at a ramshackle trailer outside of town, she’s on a mission to protect a small boy from abusive parents. But when Detective Wade Jackson arrives at the same location hours later, his mission is far grimmer: investigating Raina’s murder.

The victim’s vicious death is a shocking event for laid-back Eugene, Oregon—and even more chilling when one of Jackson’s fellow officers suspects an elusive rapist whose appetite is turning murderous. Jackson thinks he’s got a tight case against the meth-head dad who menaced Raina, but the evidence seems to leave his suspect in the clear—and a homicidal sex offender still on the loose. What Jackson fears is that his new love affair with nurse Kera Kollmorgan may be knocking him off his game. And what he never expects is to find an ally in savvy reporter Sophie Speranza, who may have stumbled on the killer’s shocking motive. But even as Jackson and Sophie team up to tighten the noose, their quarry zeroes in on his next victim—ready to take his twisted game to the next level.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd Detective Jackson Book 11 Feb 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Having enjoyed the first book, I wanted to read more about Detective Jackson and Kera. This one is also very enjoyable. There is also a twist in this one. Enjoy! I would recommend reading no. 1 first. I have now finished number 4 and they are all very enjoyable. I can't wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just A Great Read 7 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Firstly, for anybody new to Sellers, a reader should definately try and read the Detective Jackson series in order.
This is the second of the series and would have found it as enjoyable if I hadnt read "The Sex Club" first.
Again this is a really enjoyable book which deals with real life moral issues as well as being an excellent crime novel.
Sellers gives the reader more of an insight into the main characters and the relationship between Jackson and his daughter as well as Jackson and his new girlfriend are well written.
Unlike the first book, the killer is identified reasonably early but that doesnt in any way ditract from the enjoyment.
I look forward to book 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 23 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I am really enjoying this series and can't recommend them highly enough. The stories are pacey, credible and well written. I started with book 1 which at the time was in the best sellers list. I'm now on book 3 and very eased to find there are 2 more to go after this. Please don't let the slightly higher than most download books put you off. Really worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner in the Detective Jackson series 18 Feb 2012
By JimmyG
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Can I just add my voice to the others that say read the first story before this one and dont be put off by the title (Sex Club) I know it sounds dodgey but it isnt.
Anyway on with the review of this one. Once more a very enjoyable read at an excellent price, dont think cheap = rubbish in this case it doesnt. The story is again a police procedural tale and again the charcters are all too human, they follow false leads, arrest the wrong person, miss clues etc. and the series is all the better for having real characters in it.
I cant wait for the next book in the series and am downloading it after this review.
Go on treat yourself or you will never find out what secrets there are to die for.

4.0 out of 5 stars ¿ Underpromise - overdeliver ? 14 Jan 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have had some excruciatingly bad cheap and cheerful books from kindle ‘cheaper’ shelves – written by non-native speakers – un-edited – and just plain story free…
Ms. Sellers and Det. Jackson offer something completely different – electronic books SHOULD be considerably cheaper than their printed couterparts – for screamingly obvious reasons – but they do not need to be INFERIOR in terms of content – welcome to electronic books the way they should be !
If you love ‘whodunnits’ – are a regular reader of authors such as Deaver, Cornwell, Reichs, Nesbo, etc etc etc – then you’re going to like this.
Not perfect – could still do with an edit – but what IS these days ??? After two stories I went and got a chronological list of titles and I’m working my way through – great stuff and a very happy find!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 17 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wicked, I really loved this book, it has a really good story line with no boring "skip page" parts, one of those books you can not put down and can't wait to get to the end to see who the murderer was. I definately recommend this book and will definately down load more books from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep on Reading 11 Mar 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
As soon as I finished The Sex Club I downloaded this one. It was great to read how the relationship was developing with Kera and Jackson. I have to say that if you didn't read the first one, this is still a good read as LJ explains the characters anyway and the storyline of this book is different - it's not a sequel to the first one as such.

I'm so glad I found this author - very good idea having the first book in this series at 71p as it gets you into the author if you know what I mean.

Number 3 will be bought straight after finishing this one.
