Nancy Bishop's 'The Casting Couch' offers a down-to-earth, clear, no frills guide to the whole casting process. Not only does Nancy give invaluable, positive guidance on how to approach castings but also advice on how to market oneself as an actor in this norotiously competitive business. For me it was a real wake-up call as to the increasing dominance of the web in the casting process. She gives insighful and practical hints and tips on how to become more noticable on the web and emphasises the necessity of this. Every subject is backed up by personal anecdotes, comments or quotes from other well known actors and casting directors. The book is written in bite size chunks which you can dip into whenever you are in need of encouragement in any particular area of the casting process. I, personally feel much better equipped as an actor having read this book and am truly grateful to Nancy for the ideas it has given me on how to best to approach my career.

At last a book that makes sense of the casting process. Absolutely fantastic and is littered with Nancy humour which makes it so much more personal than many of the books on the shelves. If you are a skint and only have the cash to buy one casting/acting book, GET THIS ONE. I should know, I'm an actor myself and this book is just great.
