Book Description

The first cookbook to make cake-baking in the Aga simple

Product Description

This is the first ever cake book for Aga owners, all the lovely things cooks want to make but often find tricky to get right in the Aga. With 100 recipes for large cakes, cupcakes, buns, muffins and traybakes, ranging from the classic to the contemporary, this book is perfect for both the keen cake baker and the complete beginner. There are ideas for all occasions, or simply fast cakes for the busy person, and even recipes that children will enjoy making themselves.

Includes:

Simple cakes: quick and easy traybakes, Swiss rolls, all-in-one cakes - ideal for beginners

Chocolate cakes: anything and everything chocolate, brownies, chocolate roulade, death-by-chocolate - sumptuous delights that are equally good served as teatime cakes or dinner-party desserts

Traditional cakes: Victoria sandwich, Christmas cake, Simnel cake, Dundee cake, parkin, teabread, scones, plus old English regional classics

Baking with kids: fairy cakes, drop scones, Welsh cakes, flapjacks, cookies, fork biscuits - quick, easy and fun to make

Cupcakes: beautiful little iced gems in a variety of colours and flavours

Coffee-shop cakes: to sup with a cappuccino, muffins, flavoured shortbread, banana loaf, gingerbread

The healthy option: fruit bars, oatcakes, carrot cake, courgette buns, wholewheat cake, fat-free cakes - remove some of the guilt from cake baking!

All recipes have Aga and conventional instructions. There is also advice about baking equipment and useful tips throughout, making cake baking in the Aga absolutely foolproof!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Mother's Dream, 1 Aug 2008
This review is from: The Secrets of Aga Cakes (Hardcover)
In an age where packet mixed cakes seem to be the norm, I was delighted to find a cook book that showed me in easy steps how to make a whole variety of cakes to suit every occasion. I look to this book for inspiration every time I host a morning or afternoon tea. Thank you to the author for providing such easy to follow and delicious recipes AGA or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Secrets of AGA CAKES by Lucy Young, 31 July 2010
This review is from: The Secrets of Aga Cakes (Hardcover)
I have waited so long for a dedicated AGA cake recipe book! Making do with the few cake recipes that are included in the other general AGA books, Lucy Young has excelled herself, I bought it as soon as I heard about it and have had many a happy day trying all and sundry, one of the big time favourites are "The Very Best Chocolate Brownies" on page 40,this page shows all the signs of much use, splashes of choccy all around! They really do live upto their title,Ive had lots of complements from friends who have been for afternoon tea on tasting them and the wonderful thing about Lucy's book is that friends who ask me for the recipe and dont have an AGA can still make them because she includes a Conventional oven way of making everything, wonderful, thank you Lucy Young !!!
