Product Description

Synopsis

From the bizarre to the dangerous, from the sexual to the sinister, the mushrooming in the number of unorthodox cults has been one of the most extraordinary phenomena of the late 20th century. This book looks at the self-styled gurus behind these movements, and asks the question are they in it for profit or for perverted pleasure? This book is based on the frank confessions of some of the victims and founders of cults - including the Moonies, the Children of God, Jehovah's Witnesses and Satanists.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for every teenager and their parents, 23 Feb 1999
By A Customer
Jean Ritchie deals with the Who, What, When, Where and Why of cults in a way that is easy to read and understand. After her general view of cults, she goes on the describe a number of cults in a fact packed style in managable chapters. We've all heard of the Moonies, but do your teenagers know their real name of the Unification Church, do your teenagers know about Scientology, The Central London Church of Chris, the Rajneeshis etc? If my 20 year old son had read this book before he left home, he never would have got involved...
