This is the second book in the Tyler Lawless series. I have not read the first one, but I don't think that really made any difference to my enjoyment of this story because you will pick up all the facts you need to know about Tyler's amazing abilities as you go along.
Tyler's gran has died and, while her parents go off to Australia for a holiday, Tyler decides to stay and help Aunt Belle with the clearing and selling of gran's cottage. Aunt Belle, gran's glamorous and cheerful younger sister, has flown in from the USA and so when she feels unwell after her arrival at the cottage, she decides that she must have jet lag and that a day or two of taking things easy will solve the problem. Meanwhile Tyler is starting to wonder if there is something much stranger going on and she also wonders if her gran is trying to tell her something from beyond the grave. The plot thickens, as they say, but I won't give away too much of this clever and well constructed story. It is a really good and really spooky story.
I have always bought Cathy MacPhail's books for the school library as soon as they are published as they are always in demand - the pupils love them. "Roxy's Baby" remains my favourite and it is one of the most popular books on the shelves. This author really knows how to engage her readers - with highly original plots and characters that young teenagers will readily identify with.
