Book Description

Book Description
Myth tells us that the cradle of civilisation was created and nurtured by the gods. History tells us that mankind developed along its own path, and that many ancient kings believed themselves to be gods and were revered as such.

But what if the truth were something in between?

This is the reality that master thief Greg Cross now finds himself facing. What started out as a simple job for a trusted associate has quickly spiralled into a race to uncover secrets hidden since the dawn of civilisation. A race between those who seek the truth in order to take the next step in mankind’s destiny, and those who wish to claim it for their own and use it to rebuild an empire lost to them millennia ago. It is a mission that Greg cannot deny his role in; because he now possesses an ancient power that is the key to unlocking the secret of the Nexus.

Allied with those who have fought all their lives to find and protect the truth, Greg must now learn to accept what he has become if he is to master it and survive the trials to come. For although he now embodies a potential seen in man long ago, his is not the only secret of the past to have resurfaced...

Author's Note: Secret of the Nexus is the first in the series "Order of the Nexus". The second installment "Legacy of the Gods" is now available on Kindle

Review
"I ploughed through this book in no time at all, which is a great testimony on its own: the book kept - no, compelled - my attention from beginning to end. I'm not going to describe it in detail. There are too many plot turns, and I'd hate to spoil surprises."

"Absolutely riveting. Keeps you guessing all the time. What a wonderful way to use our history! A must read and book that must be in your collection." Stefan

5.0 out of 5 stars Adventurous Tale 24 May 2012
By GlenR
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you like adventure stories, you'll love this! Christopher Moore takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of ancient religions, fist fights and secret identities. It didn't take long to finish this one, because I couldn't stop reading it!

There's plenty of humour and a straight forward narative that takes you half way around the world and back again. The comic book style cannot be ignored and makes for a fun tale of goodies and baddies in this fast paced novel.

Very much a bargain too! Can't wait for the next instalment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rip-roaring fun 7 Dec. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I ploughed through this book in no time at all, which is a great testimony on its own: the book kept - no, compelled - my attention from beginning to end. I'm not going to describe it in detail. There are too many plot turns, and I'd hate to spoil surprises.

If I described it as a crossover between historical mystery, supernatural thriller and superhero novel, that would sound corny. It's all of these things, but they're bound together masterfully in a story that hurtles the reader from twist to twist, sharing the confusion of the narrator as his world collapses and reforms around him, again and again.

Just buy it. Read it. The Kindle version's not expensive, and far more than worth the price.

I can't wait for more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting! 24 Sept. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book, a bit different from the other "ancient relic" adventures.

Could have done with a bit better proofreading though, judging by the errors that kept appearing.

I'll certainly read the next one whenever it's published.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great multi-genre adventure. 27 Oct. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great adventure story, that manages to add several twists and turns as it moves from one genre to another, almost seamlessly, until ending up firmly in Dan Brown's territory, albeit using religion from a much earlier time. Yet, unlike Mr Brown's most recent efforts, manages to include global travel without sounding like a travel or history guide.

Containing great complex characters, there would seem to be plenty of room for a sequel although I'd settle just from hearing more about the earlier exploits of 'highwire'.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read 17 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This appears to be the first book by author Christopher Moore and I hope the start of a long and productive writing career. The Secret of the Nexus is a gripping, fun story which doesn't take itself too seriously and provides enough humour to balance the heavier aspects of the story which focus on Mesopotamian history. The characters are all likeable and Greg, the main character behaves in a moderately realistic manner when confronted with plenty of strange goings on!
Secret of the Nexus kept me entertained for the several hours it took to read - I think people that enjoy Dan Brown will like the premise and subject matter of this great adventure tale.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced plot spanning the millennia 2 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book and would recommend to readers who like a blend of modern fast paced action and ancient history. There was a good plot which meant there was a sense of continuity and direction to the story. While I began to see a line developing that might lead to a second book I certainly did not expect it to take the form it did - an intriguing and enjoyable final paragraph. I would have liked to see more detail in the matter of the ancient languages but this is probably only a personal thing as it is an area of personal interest for me.
