Another exciting book in this series. The children and Prince Paul, on their own initiative, set off to Africa to look for their missing parents accompanied by the Baronian pilots who, unusual for adults in a Blyton story, accompany them throughout the adventure and prove useful and helpful additions to the party. A gripping, fast paced, adventure all through.

This is a bit more grown up than most Enid Blyton's but is a great adventure. It is odd reading it now, when we know about tropical diseases, geology of mountains (I wondered where the river came from!) and the savagery of tribes. The kids are innocent and wide eyed, seeing the dangers and isolation as a grand adventure. Despite it being old fashioned, it is good fun and a lovely, light read.

a brilliant story and the last in the Secret series. keeps you interested for hours on end and makes you want to keep turning the pages.
