Book Description

7 Nov 2006
Parts of our minds seem to be laws unto themselves. They refuse to do what we want. It is as if they speak a different language, an ancient dialect. The Secret Language of Hypnotherapy shows you how to make contact with those seemingly distant parts of your mind to enable you to rid yourself of problems. The secret and hidden language you need is contained in this book. You learn how to relax, hypnotise yourself and other people. You will discover how to overcome some of the major fears, phobias and personal problems of modern life. Hypnosis and hypnotic techniques go back to the early dawns of time. A lot of what happens today was relevant to the survival of our ancestors but, today those primeval drives often mess up modern living. When we learn how to talk with our unconscious minds then we can start living successful and fulfilling lives. Acclaimed by other hypnotherapists, The Secret Language of Hypnotherapy will change your life for the better.

More About the Author

John Smale was a therapist for many, many years and he has a deep understanding of problems, their causes and their treatment. As an author John writes in a way that is easily understood and he includes humour, one of the greatest medicines ever. His books, Practical Hypnotherapy in Kindle and Strictly for Therapists explain hypnotherapy to therapists and people looking for a PROFESSIONAL and reliable therapist

He is enthusiastic to explain to therapists and their clients/patients that results are easier to achieve than we are led to believe. He feels that some therapies offered by others border on the absurd and the ridiculous.

His short stories and metaphor books are well respected and are set reading for some Universities because they show how therapeutic value can be gained from explaining problems and their resolution in simple and entertaining ways.

What John wants explains are the straightforward and highly effective methods that take into account the well-being of both the therapist and the people they treat. Simple is never stupid. Effectiveness is always the goal.

He has also written fictional works that explore the meaning of life.

3.0 out of 5 stars More psychology than hypnotherapy 11 April 2009
I was mislead by the title of this book, although it is actually accurate: it is about the use of proper words in order to suggest and or induce feelings and behavior.
It is well written, clear and concise but it doesn't teach you to hypnotize anybody, as many people may expect. It gives you good pieces of advice, practical tips and it becomes more specific about typical problems which can be solved by hypnosys, like fobias, quitting smoking, anxiety, etc.
It destroys the common idea that most people have of hypnosys, the one we have seen in TV shows, because it tells you that it is not possible to make you do things against your will, it talks about hypnosis seriously as it is used as a psychotherapy.
Reading it will help you to communicate better with the others and also to develop possitive attitudes towards difficulties, but there are many other books better for this purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant self help book 14 Nov 2006
The secret language of hypnotherapy is a must for surviving what we call modern life. As we strive through life we have forgotten the most basic natural functions of our bodies, mainly to breathe and relax (both mind, body and body language). For example take the mighty tiger. On one side he is immensely powerful, he has to be, to run after and kill prey sometimes bigger than himself. On the other side he could be perceived as being lazy. While in fact he is totally relaxed and breathing as nature intended. He can not afford to burn energy recklessly.

While on the other scale, we humans run around like headless chickens burning up far more energy than we can afford, with no proper recovery time (no wonder we are so exhausted!).

This book teaches you to take time out, you need it and deserve it. If you are relaxed and breathing correctly you can think more clearly, have more energy and be able to prioitize your home life, work or whatever life throws at you, and above all conquer your problems.

Perservere with the exercises, no one can go to the gym and get the body they desire by only going a few times. It will be worth it in the end.

A easy to read and understand book, no garbage or waffle in site. Brilliant!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great resource 12 Nov 2007
By James Malone - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The author generously shares here of his experiences as a clinical hypnotist. As a practitioner myself, I see this book foremost as a resource for those of us in the field, although there is a lot for the general public here too. What I found most interesting was his take on the relationship between evolutionary patterns and weight management and why age/gender has to be taken into account.

The Secret language of h Hypnotherapy is a wonderful book for the advanced beginner and the seasoned practitioner
So if you are interested in hypnosis at all, start at the end and read this book first, then you will really know if helping people with hypnosis is really right for you. You may just find that hypnosis may not be what you think...I guarantee you, it is so much more!

2.0 out of 5 stars somewhat disappointed 6 Oct 2010
By Noswal - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
After reading the reviews, I thought this would be a good book to pick for my required hypnosis reading. I'm only a few chapters in, and already I am annoyed at the typos, and disorganization of the book. The cover looks like it was printed at Kinko's and the writing is amateur at best. I'll probably finish it, just because I don't want to have to buy another book, but I don't recommend this for anyone looking to gain any valuable information on hypnotherapy.
