Captain Nairac was an ex para who had Irish blood in his veins, a brave but misguided and ultimately brutal individual who paid the price for being involved in "final" solutions over in Northern Ireland. He was hunted down by the IRA after it was found out that he was involved in the Miami Showband killings, a carefully set up revenge attack after three high ranking Unionists were gunned down on the border after coming home from a dogshow in Eire.

Writing style - Secret and mysterious 27 May 2009
By Sandpiper - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
It's a good thing that John Parker knows what he's writing about, because the reader most certainly will not. The book lacks any visible structure. Paragraphs jump from one topic to another, apparently related to background information, but failing to explain the relevance. Reading accounts of historical figures and events should be intruiging, even fun, and not as boring as this book.

The life and death of Captain Robert Nairac is one of the most compelling stories related to the Irish troubles, regardless of which side you're on. That being said, it is a pity, that the author fails to live up to the vast potential of this particular topic, especially considering that he tried to glorify the memory of Captain Nairac - as the title implies.
