His album recording of the song also hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Now The Best Of Secret Garden edition of 20th Century Masters/The Millennium Collection (Hip-O/Decca Classics/UMe), released ???, 2004, offers new fans a proper introduction to the mix of Nordic, Celtic and New Age music, and the ethereal beauty and romance, of one of neo-classical/New Age's most popular artists.

Featuring 14 digitally remastered selections spanning its four original albums--all of them Top 10 New Age charters--The Best Of Secret Garden is the group's most complete retrospective. A 2001 compilation, Dreamcatcher, a #4 hit, was issued prior to the following year's original album Once In A Red Moon, their highest charter at #2.

Composer/keyboard player Rolf Lovland was already one of Norway's most successful pop songwriters, earning a Norwegian Grammy, charting more than 60 national hits and winning the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest with "La der Swinge" when he met Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry during the 1994 competition. Sherry had performed with Sinéad O'Connor, the Chieftains, Van Morrison and the RTE (Radio Television Eire) Concert Orchestra. Together as Secret Garden, they won the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest with "Nocturne," the first instrumental track to take home top honors in the competition's 40 years.

In 1996, they released their debut album, Songs From A Secret Garden, which reached #5. Along with that landmark disc's "Nocturne," The Best Of Secret Garden also includes its "Song From A Secret Garden," "Papillon," "Heartstrings," "Ode To Simplicity" and "Serenade To Spring." 1997's White Stones, with "Moving," "Windancer," "Illumination" and "Reflection," climbed to #7. Combined, the two albums remained on the New Age chart for a record-breaking two years.

Dawn Of A New Century, with "Dreamcatcher," arrived appropriately in 1999 and shot to #4, charting for more than a year. Once In A Red Moon, with its title track, "You Raise Me Up" and "Gates Of Dawn," duplicated that feat.

With more than 25 gold albums from around the world, from Ireland to Hong Kong to New Zealand, and increasing notice in the U.S. (a PBS concert special was broadcast nationally in 1999), Secret Garden continues to sow an impressive harvest of music.

The series 20th Century Masters/The Millennium Collection, featuring new "best of" albums from the most significant music artists of the past century, is the most successful single artist series in music history.
