4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, but mis-titled 8 April 2000
By A Customer
A useful, interesting book, but mis-titled. Many of the places recommended in this guide were found to be popular, and very often comercialised tourist attractions - anything but secret. But, well photographed, and good for researching a holiday as it portrays many fasinating and unusual parts of France.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not many secrets 20 July 2001
Having read through the book, I share the previous reviewers' comments in that whilst the book does throw up one or 2 hidden delights, most of the places listed are well on the tourist routes and can be found in many other guides to the areas. That said, it is still a very informative read and the photography is excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another side of France. 23 May 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
A great book for finding and seeing France from another vantage point. There is great detail and information about this country not found in travel guides. The information about French people and their unique life styles is invaluable to the traveler. This book is such a find, outlining marvelous places to experience and know about. The color photography is great, with insight into "hidden" France. I can't wait to use this book in France.

For those you love to explore off the beaten path. This is a book for travelers not tourists. I have taken many of the routes suggested in this book. It is a book that I have kept in my permanent collection and lent to friends who want to see the real France.
