Product Description

Product Description
Superman was a hero. Clark Kent was a geek. Spiderman saved lives. Peter Parker sold photographs to his local paper.Chris Moyles entertains 8 million people each week on BBC Radio 1. Then he goes home and plays Xbox on his sofa, wearing only his underpants. Welcome to the real world of Chris Moyles. This book tries to get to the bottom of the double life of this award-winning broadcaster and hapless human being. You'll find out just what he thinks of his radio show guests - some of the most famous people in the country. You'll hear about his showbiz nights out and celebrity neighbourhood. You'll also learn why he is obsessive about washing up; why he lies to the pizza delivery man; and generally what it's like being a part-time famous person and a part-time nobody. Love him or not, Chris Moyles is part of the fabric of our nation and a proven best-selling author. A refreshingly honest, caustically dry and quick-witted commentator on daily life, "The Difficult Second Book" is a highly entertaining read from start to finish. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

About the Author
Chris Moyles was born in Leeds in 1974. He started out presenting a hospital radio show at the age of 13. In 2003 he achieved his childhood ambition and was given the biggest show on BBC Radio 1, the legendary Breakfast show. In less than 2 years, he had added over a million new listeners and made it the number one show in London for 15-24-year-olds. Something Radio 1 had never achieved before. Currently the show has over 8 million people tuning in each week. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have worked harder on this book., 8 Nov 2007
By mr Average (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Difficult Second Book (Hardcover)
Oh dear, as a fan of Chris Moyles, and someone who never has a bad word to say about him, i have mixed opinion about this book.Chris as a DJ is professional, genial, hard working, committed and funny; sometimes i laugh all day at something on his radio show. But unlike the informative entertaining first book, chris seems to have run-out-of-talent writing the second book. It's 'ok' but that's about it.In places it is well written, and even emotionally charged, but some of the anecdotes fade and end too abruptly, and the writing can wonder into a childlike style. With lots of short sentences. And not enough 'semi colons'.And not enough commers.Sorry Chris.
Chris talks a lot about how lazy he is and this is certainly reflected in the manner that the book is written; ie, as if he were in a rush to go down the pub or play his Ex-box.I am not a fast reader, but i could blast through sixty pages in an hour. The sad thing is that i think with the right commitment Chris could have (with a professional 'authors' help)written a lot more detail and filled a genuine 320 pages.
I agree he is never going to be a world class writer like...Bill Bryson for example, but he will always be a world class DJ.
Sorry about the bad review Chris, i feel a bit disappointed with the book.If you are fan of the Moyles, it is worth a read though.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very, very poor , 26 Jan 2008
By Ian (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Difficult Second Book (Hardcover)
Idiotic, uninformed, arrogant, obnoxious - it's a wonder that a man who's written a book as bad as this could have reached as far as Chris Moyles has done. But that's how it goes. Just because he can talk the talk doesn't mean to say he can write....!

5.0 out of 5 stars You either love him or hate him, 4 Oct 2007
By H. E. Robinson - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Difficult Second Book (Hardcover)
and if, like me, you are one of the 8 million people who listen to the show every day you probably love him and you'll love this book. I especially like the bit about how Carry On can't exist in Eastenders and the story of his mate who will go anywhere for a pint (I think it's Mitch the voice over man from Live and Kicking!). It reads just the way he talks on the radio, fun and opinionated but he knows how to take the piss out of himself too. I really enjoyed the book and having read it think he'd be great to have a few drinks down the pub with!

I thought this was well written and had some genuine laugh out loud moments. Easy to read but as Chris has admitted himself it is a bathroom book. Well done Moylesy
