I bought this to gain a bit of an insight of the backpacker experience in Australia. While it did keep me entertained, it should be noted that the author has written this in a format of a diary and she is in her late teens. While her adventures can be entertaining and funny at times, there is an equal amount of complaining when things don't go her way, particularly with her boyfriend. I can't blame the author for not having developed a great style of writing as this appears to be her first effort.... but sometimes I found myself cringing at how badly written some parts were.

Overall a good effort. If you can look past the shortcomings above you'll have an entertaining read.

This book really did keep me fascinated - I read it cover to cover over two long nights, struggling to believe all the antics the author got up to!
She certainly isn't afraid of her sexuality, and it oozes out of the pages of the book - it's a racy, risque memoir, and not for the faint-hearted!
As she travelled around Australia and New Zealand, Laura tried a bit of everything, from rafting to paragliding to outback adventuring - and it was always fascinating to see what happened as a result. She met and interacted with so many people on the trip - to read the book is to get a great insight into the often friendly, sometimes weird, always thrilling and occasionally downright scary world of the backpacker! I'd done a little of this myself, and can vouch for how bizarre the experiences can be - from stalkers to passionate romances, adventures to accidents of serendipity - it's all here, and told in such a way that you can't doubt for one second that this is The Truth. The whole truth - and the no-holds-barred truth!
A very entertaining read.

Read this on my Kindle on the lonnnng plane journey from UK to Oz a couple of days ago. Interesting to read about Laura's exploits. Looking forward to my own adventure over the next year. Bring it on!!!
P.S. This is SO cheap on Amazon - if you're interested in Australia, New Zealand, backpacking, hostel-life, the freedom of travel, relationships etc you'd be mad not to buy it!
