Product Description

Synopsis: Secret City investigates the City of London, the Corporation that runs it, and its role in the economic crisis. The film exposes the Corporation's anti-democratic constitution, the ancient laws which allow it function as a state within a state, and the power wielded by the Corporation over British economic policy, through which it sustains London s prime position at the hub of global finance capital, not least through control of the majority of the world's tax havens. But this film is not just for Londoners - the role of the City concerns everyone everywhere.

I found out about Secret City when a Facebook friend, Lee Salter, who wrote and presents the film, posted that it had won the award for Best Documentary at the 2013 London Independent Film Festival. I took a look at the subject matter and having just read Treasure Islands by Nicholas Shaxon, a book about tax havens that has a chapter on the City of London, I wanted to watch the film.

It would be fair to say that the global banking system operates in ways that are hard to fathom - and not just for the ordinary person. This film explains how the City of London has been controlling the global banking system since day 1 - and how the Corporation that runs it has been pulling the strings of kings and governments for over 1,000 years.

A few highlights include: The City is independent, not governed by the UK government and in fact the City controls the UK - check out the City Remembrancer [...] /wiki/City_remembrancer who sits behind the Speaker in the House of Commons and can interfere with all legislation to protect the interests of the City.

The City controls most of the world's tax havens and is a tax haven itself.

The Corporation consists of people elected by the big banks and other financial institutions and if anyone they don't like is voted onto the corporation, they can quash their election.

So, no democracy, incredible power, totally corrupt - watch this film, you'll want to see the City of London Corporation abolished. Really want to change the system? [...]

A little lightweight but enjoyable overview that helps to show how democracy has been turned into a choice about which brand name you want on your corruption.

It lacks about connection with the Vatican and king John landless , and the Rothschilds with Vatican.
Generally speaking I find this documuntary film is good enough .
