This pack of six papers was invaluable practice for both my children as it lessened the anxiety of the exam situation. The tests themselves were fairly indicative of those on the actual SAT papers and allowed for me to assist when there were areas that needed assistance. Suffice to say that both children are now in grammar school education.

I bought this book thanks to my friend's recommendation. It contains English Practice Papers which are indispensable for 11 plus preparation. At least one of the tests was different to any test my child has done so far, so he got more experience, which is crucial. Texts include: "The animals of Farthing Wood", the short paragraph on vegetables, extract from 'The Bournemouth Advertiser' from 27/06/1991, a pargraph about Explorers, Carrie's war, Rising Agents (my child found it quite tricky), a poem "To sleep" by W.Wordsworth, extract from "The Machine Stops" by E. M. Forster, The Magic Shoes, The Hungry Tribe from the Stone Age, First Day at a New School, Kidnapped, Letter to the Editor, The Night of the Poacher, some classifieds to browse through and answer questions and a text about rainforests. As you can see, you will find quite a variety of genres.

There are lots of 11+ practice papers on the market, spoilt for choice often. So, chose this one and any of the others published by Athey Educational. The questions are spot on and extremely good practice. As if this weren't enough the price is very competitive. Definitely recommended.
