Following his earlier Back to the Vortex, Lyon has written an in-depth look at the second series of Doctor Who, including the first Christmas special, The Christmas Invasion, and the 2006 series. After the disappointment of Christopher Ecclestone's brief time in the role, David Tennant took over and instantly made the part his own. Lyon covers each story in detail, with cast lists, plot summaries, goofs, and press and public reaction. In addition, he gives us sections on the run-up to the series, and the subsequent reaction, with quotes from newspaper and fan reviews, as well as his own critique. As I remarked in my review for the first volume, this is a much weightier tome than we were used to in the days of the "classic" series. Everything the fan or casual viewer could want to know is included within these nicely produced pages.
