Product Description

Synopsis

David Tennant is...the Doctor! Picking up where "Back to the Vortex" left off, "Second Flight" continues the story of the development of Doctor Who as David Tennant takes over the TARDIS from Christopher Eccleston and embarks on a 2005 Christmas special ('The Christmas Invasion') as well as a second series of adventures in time and space with Rose Tyler (Billic Piper), and featuring Noel Clarke as Mickey and Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler. "Second Flight" reveals the background to the series, from the announcements, to the press releases, casting calls, the highs and lows, and the return of the dreaded Cybermen. The book also features detailed analysis of the new adventures, facts and figures, and exclusive review commentary from an international panel of writers and critics.

By Paul D
Format:Paperback
Following his earlier Back to the Vortex, Lyon has written an in-depth look at the second series of Doctor Who, including the first Christmas special, The Christmas Invasion, and the 2006 series. After the disappointment of Christopher Ecclestone's brief time in the role, David Tennant took over and instantly made the part his own. Lyon covers each story in detail, with cast lists, plot summaries, goofs, and press and public reaction. In addition, he gives us sections on the run-up to the series, and the subsequent reaction, with quotes from newspaper and fan reviews, as well as his own critique. As I remarked in my review for the first volume, this is a much weightier tome than we were used to in the days of the "classic" series. Everything the fan or casual viewer could want to know is included within these nicely produced pages.

Not really what I craved, but comprehensive collection of information 8 Jan 2009

I am head over heels in love with this television show, and just picked up this book and the first in the series (Back to the Vortex). Unfortunately it doesn't give me the inside story that I REALLY want to read about - the behind the scenes bits, quotes from the actors about what shooting was like... but then it's my fault for expecting such stuff. The book is by the fans for the fans, a fan's eye view of details, facts, shooting locations, observations about the characters.
