I love Christmas stories. I love Tanya Michaels. What more could I possibly ask for?
Second Chance Christmas is second in the Colorado Cades series, and I think Michaels' triologies just keep getting better. In Her Secret, His Baby, Arden Cade found her happily ever after, now it's her older brother Justin's turn.
Justin has reacted to tragedy much differently than his sister. He's a charmer, a man who keeps his distance because he doesn't want to be hurt again. Since the Cades lost their mother around Christmas, Justin understandably isn't a fan of the season.
Elisabeth is beginning to understand where he's coming from. Despite having a huge, warm, and loving family, she's reeling from the loss of her best friend and becoming a rather sudden mommy to Kaylee, her friend's daughter. Did I mention that Justin has already broken her heart once when he realized he was getting too close to her? The pragmatic Elisabeth now has a fiance she met online. Now her twin sister, Lina, has enlisted Justin's help in proving to Elisbeth she's about to make another mistake with the rather milquetoast Steven.
Second Chance Christmas is full of Michaels' wit. Whether she's talking about the Cupboard of Doom, the Evil Twin, or the proper way to toast marshmallows, she'll make you chuckle. This short novel is also full of her trademark take on family relationships, how they hurt us and how they heal us. She'll make you cry with the depth of emotion you feel for a man who's trying hard to risk his heart, and a woman who's trying her best to shield both hers and that of her adopted daughter.
Oh, and this one has only made me want to read Colin's book (Her Cowboy Hero)even more!
