Product Description

Product Description

No government lasts for ever and historically most great empires have collapsed from within as opposed to being conquered. While many would have predicted a secession movement in the United States would begin in Texas or California circumstances arose that caused Maine to begin the movement. In many ways, its proximity to the secessions of Quebec further set in motion actions that could not be reversed.
This is the story of how a seemingly inconsequential arrest and a tragic ship accident grew into a movement that swept Maine. It began as Jonie O'Laney, a Maine attorney, battled to free a boy from unjust incarceration by the Federal Government as he simultaneously fell in love with his mother. Like a whirlpool the legal battle draws Jack Shannon, a state senator, into the fray as he rises to Governor of Maine. The contest irrevocably escalates as ex-Naval officer, Admiral Ron Semens, joins the cause. It is a story of romance, wealth and power set against the power of the President and the opposition to regulations, graph, and corruption prevalent in the Washington beltway. It is the story of Americans exerting their right to overthrow an unjust and corrupt government. This is the story of the beginning of that movement and how it grew.

Unfortunately this book left me feeling cheated....

Up to about three quarters of the way through the book I found it well written, very interesting read with plausible story lines, then the last quarter felt like the author just wanted to finish it and move on or he didn't know how to finish it in the time allowed.

Good premise, poor execution. Worth the cost? No
