Product Description

Product Description

Since its development in the 1980's, on-site massage has spread rapidly across the world, and more and more people are becoming familiar with massage in a chair. Therapists can often be seen with in shopping centres, department stores, airports, and health fairs, offering this 20-minute treatment to members of the public. Treatment can also be offered 'on-site' in the workplace, as well as from private clinics. On-site massage is fun to do and to learn, and is of immense value in these driven and stressful times. It is a sequence developed from traditional Oriental Anma and Shiatsu style massage techniques to improve health, energy flow, and reduce tension. Acupressure points are located throughout the body on meridian lines, and are stimulated using finger and elbow pressure with the addition of kneading, percussion, mobilisation, and stretching. This will balance the flow of energy and stimulate the muscular, nervous, lymphatic, immune, and circulatory systems, leaving the client relaxed yet energised. This practical handbook, fully illustrated in colour with photographs and line drawings, takes the reader through the techniques involved.

This book is not only a 'must' for students and practitioners but also for anyone interested in Oriental Bodywork. The author writes in a simple and concise style which makes the book very readable. The illustrations are invaluable in making the points easy to find and the detailed 'step by step' guide of pictures and text, take you through each part of the Kata.

A Great Book! 19 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
This is a great book, it explains the concept of seated massage and even helps the reader to appraoch setting up their own business. New to clothed massage I am eager to learn more. If this is the only book I buy I can see myself being able to give a fantastic on-site massage!
I'd definatey recommend this book... It's easy to follow and a must for any student!

Good for a beginer 25 April 2011
Format:Paperback
This book is good if you have absolutely no knowledge what so ever. It has a reasonable explaianation of the anantomy and use of accupressure points. A brief outline of the meridians and where they are good diagrams. Brief explaination of some theories of TCM. (very brief)
So why not 5 stars? Well the majority of the work suggested is on the back and a tiny bit on the limbs, but actually misses out how to access many of the meridians points down the arms and legs especially any that run down the front like Stomach, Spleen, Liver and Kidney. So if you know nothing about accupressure or meridian work would be a great introduction, but if you have some knoweledge like me then sadly not enough covered as some meridians like bladder accessed but what about the others. Would have preferred more on how to work in seated postion and less on the Anatomy and TCM as actually can find that stuff in more depth elsewhere.
