This book is a great addition to my kitchen and complements my many cook books. The author introduces the topic by discussing how far away we've moved from being in tune with nature and the seasons. He sets out the food that's in season in the United Kingdom by month; he also includes some recipes which I'm dying to try. I love that I can combine seasonal cooking with my normal cooking each month and surprise people by cooking vegetables they wouldn't think to eat. I really recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a well-written book about how to live more in tune with nature and enhance your culinary experiences at the same time.

A really first class book - well written and it draws your attention to the blessing from the Gods that we have so much locally grown, locally produced food in the British Isles - we are really well off - sure it's fine to have other foods and some Ethnic foods provide delicious variety; but our own seasonal stuff - not so far for it to travel - is fresher and must from that FACT be better for us to eat. I need a garden - I'll grow my own.

Well worth buying if you are interested in getting out of the trap of eating old, frozen, irradiated, sprayed and heavens knows what else food from anywhere but the UK. This is how our ancestors survived and they were generally leaner and more fit than we are today. A good reference book too. A must have for the health or cooking section of your personal library.

This is a great little book, no pictures as such but really neat and informative. Not over full with info just gives you the things you really want to know.

This is great - very simple to use, it feels comprehensive and evocative of the seasons and pretty informative. I would have likes more focus on the farming and less on the consumer (more information about processes and sources - deeper information)

Not quite what I hoped it would be. Something between a guide to seasonal food and a general foodie book. I was hoping it would be a little more comprehensive in scope.

There is not an enormous number of recipes in this book, but it is helping me to understand what foods are in season when. A good resource!
