Review

This isn't just another baking book. Fiona Cairns conjures up cakes that are quite extraordinary and other worldly. She simply unlocks the imagination. This book is full of magic. And all the recipes work. (Diana Henry)

yet another sensational baking book! Seasonal Baking celebrates the baking year with classic cakes, cupcakes, biscuits and treats for every season and we can't wait to get stuck in! (GOOD TO KNOW RECIPES)

Seasonal Baking s a baking book for those who appreciate the nuances of seasonal flavors and ingredients. This is a lovely collection of recipes you would be inspired to bake from the gifts of nature such as a bag of Kent cobnuts or a pail of blackberries... Fiona's understated recipes focus on simplicity and the sublime. After all, what could be more simple or elegant than an Almond-Apricot Pansy Cake where sprinkles of pansies and a dusting of icing sugar adorn the cake? (www.culinarialibris.com)

Fiona Cairns made that royal wedding cake so it's a fair bet that even the most experienced bakers can learn a trick or two from her. Her latest book celebrates the best each season has to offer in a broad array of treats ranging from biscuits and traybakes to stunning multi-tiered cakes, all beautifully photographed and described in straightforward instructions (SAINSBURY'S MAGAZINE)

Seasonal Baking by Fiona Cairns is full of sweet treats for every occasion and season and the prettiest cakes imaginable - as you'd expect from the woman who made the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding cake (ELLE DECORATION)

Making the Christmas cake is one of my favourite winter rituals, and the recipe this year is Fig, Port and Star Anise, courtesy of Fiona Cairns' stunning new book Seasonal Baking. (PSYCHOLOGIES)

This beauty from Fiona Cairns really stood out for us... elegantly combines the classics with all kinds of innovative cakes, biscuits and puds. But the main draw for us was the focus on seasonality; Cairns uses fruit, nuts and flowers when they are at their very best, and her bakes are totally in tune with the changing colours, moods and celebrations of the seasons (GREAT BRITISH FOOD MAGAZINE)

As well as the kudos making William and Kate's wedding cake, Fiona Cairns boasts Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason amongst the establishments she supplies cakes to. She offers all sorts of delicious recipes here divided into the four seasons, there's something for every occasion (CHOICE)

Bakers are really fond of Fiona's tomes. She makes cakery an art form (EAST ANGLIAN DAILY TIMES)

When it comes to sweet things, Fiona Cairns really has the magic touch (GREAT BRITISH FOOD MAGAZINE)

Seasonal Baking not only ensures that you are using ingredients when they are at their best but is also a cost-effective way of producing high-quality cakes. Royal cake maker Fiona Cairns has created a series of recipes to celebrate each seasonal milestone from springtime Passion Fruit Kisses through to Christmas Wreath Eclairs. Each recipe features beautifully styled photography to inspire you to think seasonally when making cakes, sweets or desserts. (CAKES & SUGARCRAFT)

I bought Seasonal Baking as I have Fiona's two other books and they are a go-to for all celebrations. Seasonal Baking does not disappoint!

Seasonal Baking is the sort of book you want to sit down and read with a cup of tea- the recipes all look fantastic and there are so many lovely photographs to look through. I have baked the Peanut Butter and Sour Cherry Cookies and the Spiced Butternut Mini Loaf cakes and they've turned out perfectly.. and didn't last long in our house! Dividing the book into seasons does make you think twice about the ingredients you use at certain times of the year. I'm looking forward to baking the Fig, Port and Star Anise Christmas cake...

In short, recommended!

I loved her first and it is dog eared and splattered with cocoa powder but this latest book is beautifully photographed and put together with another set of imaginative and delicious recipes and is fast becoming another favourite. Seasonal recipes I have used so far are the Mini Spiced Butternut Squash Cakes - even more moist as one big cake, White Chocolate and Nectarine Tart and the Fig, Blackcurrant and Fennel Tarts - delicious combinations and accurate recipes which is so important in these recessional days when you want to be sure that you are not wasting good ingredients. I am even looking forward to winter and to making the Clementine and Star Anise sponge, the Chocolate Cardamom Tart, not to mention the Crumbly Mince Pies! And roll on the Alphonso season so I can tackle the scented pavlova ..........

This is such a lovely book - maybe not on a par with her first one 'Bake and Decorate', but that truly is a classic. However, this looks so beautiful it would make a wonderful gift and I am sure, inspire a reluctant baker!
The Blackberry, Apple and Cobnut crumble has become a family favourite for special occasions and the Christmas ideas, from shortbread to no bake cakes (my daughters teachers loved these!) and the 'reindeer cakes' (OK I didn't have a clue what 'dulce de leche' was and an explanation would have been good), were a spectacular Christmas hit!! A fabulous looking book - really looking forward to the Spring and Summer recipes.....

I was sent this book through Amazon as a gift from my sister in law, who happens to be a chef and who is also a BIG fan of Fiona's books! I am SO delighted with it. It is full of beautiful photographs and fabulous mouth watering recipes. I already have Fiona's "Birthday Cake Book" from which I have many favourite cakes that I bake regularly, but now I have even more to choose from. I love the way this book is set out in seasons to help you make the most of the produce available for the time of year that you are cooking. It is the sort of book that you could have on a coffee table to pick up again and again to find something new every time.

Look no further than this book for the ideal present. It compliments Fiona's other two books beautifully. The photography is amazing, there are ideas for baking for the whole year and the recipes work! Tried the autumn celebration cake for friends last week and they were very impressed and the Thai rice and coconut cake is wonderful. Just going to get the ingredients for the fig and almond mincemeat it sounds delicious.

This book is exqusiitely photographed with the most amazing recipes. I loathe and detest baking but even I can follow these recipes and have been inspired to try some from this wonderful book. The pictures of Roses and their hips/ hops and honesty etc remind me of the beauty of the changing seasons . Try the scones recipe. It's so easy and the results are delicious as is the gooseberry crumble cake.

I've had a secret love-affair with the goodies that Fiona produces for a while now, and this is the first book I've purchased of hers and won't be my last.

Recipes are sensational, photography ditto and everything's well explained. Recipes also aren't too long and rambling so it's a cookbook I'll be using for a long, long time and has already become a firm favourite in my house.
