A fantastic novel 8 July 2005

I cannot praise this novel highly enough. I began to read it at about 10pm one evening, not knowing what to expect, and finished it at 10am the next morning- I literally could not put it down. The plot is thrilling, the locations of the novel are vibrant and enticing, the characters are beautifully portrayed and the powerful and often dark themes and motifs are intelligently and sensitively dealt with. This book is by turns hilarious, darkly sinister and extremely moving and I would recommend it to anyone.

I was already a fan of Mary Stanley having read 3 of her novels and Searching For Home has strenghtened my high opinion of her as a novelist. Once you start reading this book you won't stop. The book is beautifully written and is partially based in Malta.
She is now at the top of my favourite author lists and I look forward to scooping up another few of her books .
Future work her readers will await with great anticipation.
