5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Story Ever Told., 28 Feb 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Search for Omm Sety: A Story of Eternal Love (Paperback)
Omm Sety lived in a world of her own, a dream world, but nevertheless real. Her belief that she lived in the time of Sety 1 and the experiences she had with this Pharoah could not be disproved. Many eminant people visited her, amongst which was Professor Carl Sargan, who tried to find a "chink in her armour" but never could and came away totally convinced by her. She was a self taught Egyptologist, which upset the professionals and to try and discredit her the authorities, when excavating Sety 1 temple at Abydos, called upon her to identify various rooms as she had said that she knew the temple well when she had lived there before. Not only did she amaze them by identifying various sections without hesitation, but she also informed them of a garden where she and Seti sat, and indeed this garden was subsequently found. Whether you believe it or not, you cannot disprove it, as many have tried to. It is a wonderful story of a lady who lived a beautiful dream in a world of poverty. She was indeed a very special person and I hope that her Ka is now forever joined with that of her beloved Pharaoh Sety 1. For anybody who loves Egyptology this book is a MUST.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best ever - a truly fascinating read, 20 April 2000

I had put off reading this book for years because of it's mistisicm. However, once I did eventually read this absolute wonder of a book it was impossible to put down. A woman whose memories spanned the millenium - happy and content once she found her lord. My only regret is that she is now with the ancients and so will never have the chance to visit and speak to her. I visited Abydos in 1993 and if I every return I will see the temple of Seti I in a completely new light.
