Unfortunately I found that the hat I bought was not actually waterproof, which rather defeated the object of buying it in the first place.
While on holiday I wore it on the one rainy day we had and it became totally sodden and my head was soaking wet. It took two days for the hat to then fully dry out when left to drip dry in the bathroom during which time it was unusable.
I also noticed that when the hat was being worn the inner and outer layers tended to drift apart and so I had to keep pulling it down for it to fit properly.
The cheaper beanie I had that this was meant to replace actually does a better job of keeping your head dry and so I'll be sticking with that.

Like many other reviewers I too found the hat feeling and looking too small. The problems with this hat are far worse the ill fiting though. Firstly it makes a terrible rustling rubbing noise caused by the waterproof fabric. Because the hat is tight on the ears the noise is simply deafening. The other thing is that the outer material seperates from the inner skin which makes the hat rise about 6 inches above your head like some hat souffle. The worst part about this is that you don't know its happened because the tight constricting membrane remains in place. You will only know how rediculous you look when you catch your reflection in a shop window or a mirror. I can't tell you about the waterproof properties because I have never worn it long enough to find out. I will however say that I would much rather get wet - come to think of it none of my regular beanie hats gets so wet they soak through and at least they look stlyish. Why did I buy this?

Warm Heads & Ears
Being almost bald I found this hat to be the best one I have bought. Being an avid birdwatcher spending a lot of time on the coast I found it it lived up to all expectations.

Great Hat nearly
Keeps my head warm and dry from rain, but not dry! Due to the waterproof layer in-between two fabrics your head sweats and you can wring water out from the inside after a run..

Sealskins Beanie
Hat was delivered on time, this was a present for my girlfriend and she loves it. She did find the waterproof lining did make a crackleing noise, but she did get use to that.

large fits good on a large-ish head
Probably of use only in very cold and wet conditions. The beanie is very warm when walking and sweat seems to accumulate uncomfortably inside.
