Having owned a couple of these drives in the past (older models), I bought two of these up-to-date drives with great expectations. Unfortunately they did not quite 'cut the mustard' for me. Both 1Tb drives went into my machine, with an existing Seagate Barracuda from a couple of years ago. I found the new drives to be very noisy, and at least one of them has now also started to make peculiar screaming nosies at start up. Having spoken with the very helpful Seagate support services, they suggested the drives are returned, and thats just what I am doing, returning them back to Amazon. Putting the 'peculiar' noise aside, the constant hum and vibration from the new drives is just too distracting for me to work with.
On a positive note, these are very fast drives, and I did notice a swift change in startup and general use of the machine, with a newly installed system on one of the new drives. Would I buy another? Probably not this model, but I do not think it would put me off future purchases of Seagate drives. I base this on how good the older models I own have performed.
