Product Description

Product Description

Barracuda hard drives from Seagate give you the Power of One. One terabyte per disc technology. One drive platform for every capacity need and every desktop storage application. One hard drive qualification effort. One hard drive platform to choose from. One hard drive with trusted performance, reliability, and simplicity to deliver the lowest total cost of ownership.

You no longer need to choose between low power drives, mainstream drives, or performance drives. One hard drive with 7200RPM performance and capacity points from 250GB to 3TB makes it easier than ever to choose the right drive for any need. No need to choose between low power drives, mainstream drives, or performance drives.

You get more bang for your buck with 1TB per disc technology. Increasing the capacity per disc means the highest capacity drives like 1TB, 2TB and 3TB become more affordable, needing fewer discs to meet your capacity needs.

Your drive is up to 45% faster than the last generation thanks to Seagate OptiCache technology. OptiCache technology combines the latest advances in hard drive microprocessors, DRAM, and proprietary caching algorithms resulting in great performance improvements for you.

You don't have to worry about the transition to Advanced Format 4K technology with Seagate SmartAlign technology. With SmartAlign, 4K drives look and act just like legacy 512 byte sector hard drives which makes your adoption of Advanced Format simple.

You get reliable read/write performance even in tough operating environments with Seagate AcuTrac technology. AcuTrac represents new advanced hard drive technology that can accurately control reading and writing on these "nano-sized" tracks spinning at 7200 RPM, even in high-touch environments, such as an all-in-one PC with loud music booming through the speakers.

The free DiscWizard software allows you to configure your system to access a 3TB drive, even on legacy PC BIOS systems or Windows XP. It's a safer, more cost-effective solution for installing 3TB hard drives.

From desktop or all-in-one PCs, to home servers, to PC-based gaming systems and more, Seagate Barracuda drives are ideal for nearly any application. They work great in desktop RAID configurations, as well

Six months after purchase still running quietly and smoothly. Computer is on about 7-8 hours a day as my PC is my games machine, Blu-Ray player and streams TV shows. So this Hard drive has been exposed to a lot of usage! No problems or faults whatsoever. Very glad I purchased it!

I have been using Seagate drives for many many years without any problems. In fact I would say they WERE the best by far (especially as they were more tolerant to temperature than other brands). I am still running some drives over 5 years old with no problems in external caddies for back up.

However, in the last 18 months I have bought 3 of these drives and the oldest has failed and another is now showing potential signs of data corruption.
Another problem was that the Seagate diagnostic tools did detect the failed drive was faulty.
I now wonder how long the other 3rd will last... what a waste of money as these will all need to be replaced.

Yes they are quick and quiet but as they no longer appear to be reliable (also based on reported failures online) there is only one decision for me ....... WD Black series or any other drive with a 5 year warranty.

Excellent Hard Drive! Performs well and is fast. Comes with a large cache of 64MB which makes some sort of difference in read/write. Had this for 7 months no problems what so ever! One little thing it's just a bit noisy. If you want silent 7200rpm hard drive then go for Western Digital Blue Series.

Didn't even last 1 year. Purchased this drive in December 2013 and it crashed so badly November 1st 2014 that it can't even be formatted.

Never, ever going to buy one of these drives again. Ever.

Brilliant drive, I really recommend this if you are upgrading your system. The speed of writing, copying and game load time is excellent and I will be buying another in the future.

I installed my OS on this HDD and it loads up within ~8 seconds. Almost as quick as the SSD... It also brings up other things quickly as well, i.e games, browse, documents, not Windows 8 music app though that takes a few seconds...

Does what it says on the tin and delivered quickly with no fuss, just what you want. It's taken over as my primary drive and is much quicker than its predecessor.
