I bought this to replace the pre-installed 250Gb Toshiba hard drive on my 2009 MacBook Pro, which was 90% full and really starting to chug. Here are my stats:

Original drive, times from power on:
- To log in screen = 0:36
- To viewing a web page = 1:44
- To an open Word Doc = 2:33

With Momentus XT, having restarted the machine a dozen times or so (the drive 'learns' what applications to store on the flash memory), times from power on to:
- To log in screen = 0:19
- To viewing a web page = 0:30
- To an open Word Doc = 0:38

My Mac is way better than it's ever been, even than when it was brand new. Not only that, but applications open almost instantly, regardless of how many other users are logged in (switching user from my son's login whilst he was running Minecraft used to bring everything crashing to a halt). It' so responsive now, a real joy to use, and that's without mentioning the extra storage capacity. Talk about a new lease of life!

To any Mac owners considering upgrading their hard drive:
- Use Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer everything to the new drive (free download).
- Once the new drive is installed, go to System Preferences > Startup disk > select the new drive and restart. It'll cut 40 seconds off bootup time.
You won't regret it.

I bought the Seagate as a replacement Hard Drive for my mid 2010 MacBook Pro and what a difference!. Installation was easy, using Internet Recovery allowed me to format the drive and install a clean version of Lion easily and quickly.

Boot time has gone down from approx 40 seconds to 18, applications launch so much quicker, especially iPhoto.

I would thoroughly recommend this for Mac or PC.

I replaced the 320GB HDD in my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro with this drive, and the difference was instant: Boot time with the old drive was around 1 minute 45 seconds, from power on to auto-login and start up of 3 apps.

With the new drive this went down to 26 seconds immediately.

It's like i've purchased a new computer again. It boots faster, Applications open faster, and I have more than double the space available. Install was easy.

Case closed, nuff said!

Strongly recommended.

P.s. Remember to backup everything first, and if you're using Bootcamp you'll need a 3rd party application to clone your windows disk image.

I, like many people who use their laptops professionally, managed to fill a 500Gb fairly quickly and given the choice of installing a 1TB 5200 drive or a 750Gb 7200 hybrid; I chose the smaller hybrid. I must admit I was a little worried about how the firmware would handle the fact that I have a dual boot Win7 / Server 2008R2... No worries at all! Once I had imaged, transferred and resized the partitions the laptop booted perfectly and with an unexpectedly high boost in speed. Those expecting a leap in the Windows experience rating may be disappointed but dont let the figures put you off. My machine (Vaio i7, 8Gb RAM) only changed from 5.8 to 5.9 but the boot time has reduced to 15 seconds from 50! Once the firmware has your normal usage worked out, programmes you regularly use start almost before you have released the mouse button. Physically is is the same size as most drives (9.5mm thick) and is almost silent in use.

Until we have SSD drives at sizes and prices closer to the drives we use in laptops, the hybrids are definately the way to go. I will be recommending all my customers to upgrade to these if they have drive problems. By the way, reading other reviews, there have been some complaints about issues with battery life with earlier versions of these drives, obviously there is a small current overhead but so far the charge life on my machine does not seem to have been affected.

All in all buying these is a no-brainer - DO IT!

Not quite pure Solid State Drive speeds but everything runs faster.

The computer has never acted lethargic while I've have this drive, and I've had it quite a long time now and its around 3/4's full.

It may only have a small amount of solid state memory on-board but it makes all the difference when it comes to windows running without a hitch which its never done with a standard cylindrical drive.

Can expect your 10 or so favourite games and apps to load and run a lot faster.

I thought this would greatly improve the boot and general performance of my PC, but I can't say I notice any improvements. This may be due to the way I use my PC, but I was expecting more. Overall an ok disk with high capacity, but nothing special.

This hard disk is amazing. The speed, in a MAC Book, is similar to a SSD drive. The boot time in Lion OS is 17 seconds with a Core 2 Duo 2,4GHz. Top speed.
Shutting down time 3 seconds. Similar SSD speed with an extra capacity.

title says it all!

I upgraded my 4 yr old macbook pro with 500gb version a few months ago and I was chuffed. I then, under pressure :), gave that to my wife and bought the latest macbook pro for myself and it was so slow booting etc I got so frustrated! Just stuck 1 of these in and I'm zipping along again.

I did a comparison and I reckon that it saves me about 20-30mins a day in moving between programmes etc....... money well spent!
