A LABOR OF LOVE. BADASS STYLE

When Vern first began posting reviews on the net way back when, his reviews quickly became essential reading for film fans like me and countless others.
Simultaneously laugh out loud funny whilst being incredibly insightful, Vern soon became the cooler, older guy who had seen more films than you, knew more than you and could express it better than you. And he was cool. Did I mention that?
Vern's favorite kind of movie are the ones that star and belong to the "badass" school of cinema: You know the cats I mean - guys like Peckinpah, Bronson, Eastwood, Chiba, Lee, Chan, Woo... and Steven Seagal.
When SEAGALOGY first came out in 2008 some people figured the book would a spoof, mocking Seagal.
At the time, Seagal's career was steady but nothing like how it was back in the, as Vern puts it, "golden era" of Above The Law and Out For Justice.
Bu long before the book came out, Vern had championed Seagal's films with a genuine passion.
Vern was not here to rip Seagal down, but rather, build him back up and show that, even in his lesser works, there's things to be appreciated, to be looked at more than once.
And so, SEAGALOGY came out and proceded to blow people's minds. Vern's love of Seagal's movies was infectious, prompting many to take a second look.
This new, revised edition continues from where the first edition left off, including all his films from 2008 onwards as well as his recent forays into TV - Lawman and True Justice, as well as other appearances here and there.
And, in the best possible way, it's more of the same - witty, analytical, Vern shows his respect for Seagal and all his works, never being glib or dismissive of any of his films, always looking for how it syncs in with the rest of his canon, his philosophies and beliefs - the SEAGALOGY.

Seagology: I love it

This book nails it. This book made me go back and watch all my Steven Seagal movies, I even went out and bought some of the direct to dvd ones as well. Anybody who loves or hates Seagal should at least read this book. Let's hope Vern makes more books on other action stars like Van Damme or Stallone.
