Even if it contained no technical information on sea trout fishing it would still be a 'must have' for any serious fisher - the introduction is a truly outstanding piece of writing transporting the reader onto the river bank right from the very first sentence. However, it is still the best work on sea trout fishing to date.

On first reading I found the book a little uninspiring - but now I find I keep coming back and back to it again. The more I read it the more I find in it. Ideas I initially found hard to accept I now have found to be true and I return to the book all the more. Sound tactics and worth persevering with.
It is probably only exceeded by Successful Sea Trout Fishing by Harris and Morgan.

This book, along with a few prayers, helped me catch my first seatrout(sewin) in Wales. On a night when 2 other fishermen only managed 1 sewin between them, I was blessed with 4 fish to 7lbs by simply following Hugh's advice and tactics. One of the best gifts I have ever received. You will not be dissapointed with this book.

A Good Book for the serious Sea Trout (Sewin) fisherman
I bought this book last year as a novice about to embark of a Weeks SeaTrout Fishing on the River Teifi. I found it hard going at first but itwas worth the effort. Read more
