If you are looking for a book that adds a breath of fresh (sea) air into the teaching of watercolours then this is the book for you.
Arnold,s enthusiasm for painting shines through in his seascapes, which explode into life by his skillful use of colour and tone. This book is designed to inspire the novice and the already accomplished painter, by the use of clear and well illustrated techniques that the author has perfected over many years.
All the important theories of colour mixing, use of tone, composition etc. are to be found here, backed up by easy to follow stages in producing your own masterpieces
Bursting with tips and secrets of the trade, this book is a must-have if you paint, or are thinking of starting, and would make a much appreciated Christmas present. There is something here for everyone---buy it!

Top Class Teacher 13 Sep 2008

Finding good books on watercolour,is not as easy as you would think. When I first started in 1980,I had one hell of a job. I would buy book after book, and was no nearer in the end, than I was at the start. This book is a jem, when it comes down to (Watercolour). I am not saying, there are no more to choose from, because there are.and you will find them on Amazon. But back to this one. Arnold Lowrey, has an easy way about his teaching.Having said that.if you can get the DVDs for the books it will take you a step nearer to where you want to be. If you are just starting out,or are in control of what you are doing. This book will hold it's own, against any of them.

I really like this artist but I am not so keen on this book. I don't feel as if it has taught me anything new perhaps that's because I read Terry Harrisons top tips for Watercolour just prior to this but I usually manage to find something different between artists. Probably best if you haven't done much watercolour (not that I am that good yet) just felt it lacked something and very light on subject matter.
