Books that make you laugh out loud are rare. This one does but it's more than simply funny. I loved the totally unique (bloody bizarre) premise and couldn't stop turning the pages to find out what happened next.

I'm in my mid (ok, late) 30s and this book transported me back to my youth when possibilities were infinite and I really could have dropped everything and stepped on the next plane out...

Loved the language and like to think I'm just a little bit more yoof for having read it. Whatever.

This book is not about otters or surfing - let's be clear about that. It is, however, the most original novel I've read for some time. It's a difficult one to pigeon hole for that reason. Add Holden Caulfield to The Da Vinci Code, throw in a pinch of bestiality, add a twisted sense of humour, then mull over for a couple of days and you'll realise you've probably just read the coolest book of the year. Destined to be a cult classic. Buy.

It's been a while since I read this book but what stands out most for me is that it actually made me laugh out loud (the haircut incident) which doesn't happen very often. The story is probably aimed at the teenage market but I picked it up in the library and, although a quick read,it's well written and has an inventive story line. Liked it and would recommend for anyone aged from 11 to 80.
