This is a great album from Uriah Heep, one of the strongest works they have put out in a while, every track rocks and the whole album is just great. This is Uriah Heep rocking and a serious must buy.I have a large Heep collection and this is one of the best I play often.Check out there Raging Silence album as well its a hum dinger.Buy them both for your collection you will be blown away.90% of this album is also available on a double Cd called Between Two Worlds on the Recall label and is also a good buy for the extra tracks you get.Check out my review on the latest Heep album Wake The Sleeper its a corker and comes highly recommended.Hope review is of help.
Please check out my other reviews you might find something of interest.Keep Rocking.

that the rock world missed,i will never understand why the current hysteria surrounding 'wake the sleeper' (thoroughly justified) was never aimed at this record, arguably every bit as good as WTS this disc should have taken heep back to the top and kept them there, the best album since demons/'freedom,buy immediately you wont be dissappointed.

Sea Of Light, UH's great return to form from '95 now sounds better than ever thanks to Hear No Evil Recordings. To my ears the bass is more pronounced by the new mastering, the keyboards sound excellent & the guitar & drums just rock. This is one solid album that just seems to get better track by track. Three bonus tracks are included,(one a throw away single edit- why??) Sail The Rivers to me is better than Still She Calls His Name but overall this is really an overlooked release from a band that has had a long & distinguished career, I give this new version 4.5 stars & if you are a Heep fan you need to own this very reasonably priced reissue that also includes expanded liner notes giving a brief story of the making of the record. I consider Sea Of Light a true lost classic, too bad it hasn't gotten the respect it deserves among other Heep classics.

Why oh why have i not bought this album before. I bloody well love this album. After listening to it countless times since i have purchased it my main feeling is that i can't believe i have missed out on such great music for so long. I have to admit that i have only just re-discovered Heep in the last few years and have been collecting their back catalogue on cd, and i'm amazed at all the amazing tunes that this great band have produced. Just goes to show that it's never too late to discover incredible 'old school' as well as the awesome new era of the Heep's latest line-up. Don't hesitate 'rock' people, just get this album, you'll love it!!!!!

I originally reviewed this CD for a magazine back in 1995 on its original release having been so impressed with the quality of this outstanding album. Ten years later I had intended doing a follow up review to see how it had passed the test of time? I can't believe it is nearly twenty years since the original release but decided to pick up this re-issue and am so glad I did. It still remains my favourite post Byron CD, surpassing the recent and excellent Wake The Sleeper CD due to its better balance of power to the more melodic, subtle side of the band - very 'eavy and yet very 'umble. Superb vocals from Bernie Shaw, drums from Lee Kerslake and dynamic bass from the sadly missed Trevor Bolder, enhanced with an impressive combination of Hammond organ and piano from Phil Lanzon and acoustic guitar from Mick box.
The album opens up with Against All Odds, a storming rock track that has returned to be the live opener on the recent and current live tours. Other highlights are Words In The Distance, Fires Of Hell (Your Only Son) and on the lighter side, Mistress Of All Time, Logical Progression and Dream On, all being excellent but surpassed by the awesome epic Love In Silence, still one of my favourite all time tracks and sounding as fresh and dramatic as ever. This re-release is finished of with the unusually high standard bonus tracks of "She Still Calls His Name" and "Sail The Rivers" that could have easily been on the original release.
The strength of writing with excellent production, combined with superb playing from all members of the band (as ever) paired with reassuring imagery from Roger Dean, make this a must have CD, whatever your musical preferences.
