Product Description

Sea of Ink promises to suit all reading tastes. If you are looking for heartbreakingly honest life writing, fiction with a sting in the tale or lovingly crafted poetry, you will find it in this anthology. We aim to entertain, scare and move you through the power of words. Most of all we hope you enjoy reading our collection of work. All of the authors submitted work from an undergraduate course, A215, run by The Open University. Each piece has been polished according to feedback from peers and tutors. Whilst self- published we have followed a professional route to publication using assistance from those in the trade. You can find out more on our website

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for the weekend? 29 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
There really is something here for everyone. From life-writing, to short stories, to poetry. From the bitter-sweet to the loud, proud and glorious. I am working my way through my copy with awe at the talented people that have made this anthology possible and I know that for many years to come, I will dip into it on rainy Sunday afternoons to rediscover the thrill of this little gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'sea of ink' ~ reveiw 9 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Just started reading it and already loving it.I read all the poetry first (as I am a current a215 student with a poetry tma due soon) and read a few of the short stories this afternoon, Fiona Dorchester's 'Thinking Time' had me in tears (hope it was fiction not life writing). Very well put together, talented story tellers, and I loved the little biographies at the back . First feel good book i've read in a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 30 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
A great anthology; perfect for dipping in and out of, with a variety of styles from amateur authors with very professional standards. It is very accessible and inspirational, and for those who wish to see themselves in print: read this then have a go yourself - and perhaps stake a look at the Open Uni creative writing courses.

4.0 out of 5 stars Something for Everyone 28 Feb 2013

I began reading Sea of Ink with no expectations whatsoever. It was a collection of writings by complete strangers, none of whom, as far as I know, had been published before - certainly none of whom I'd come across - so it was a journey into the unknown for me. A collection featuring different writers is always interesting, throwing up as it often does some gems, and in Sea of Ink I wasn't disappointed. The themes are wide-ranging, from a poignant what-might-have-been encounter with a past love to a twist-in-the-tail story of a fateful hospital mix-up to a quirky account of a very unexpected snowman to the slowly-dawning horror of a charity shop that offers a rather unusual service. Settings are nicely varied, from period to contemporary, from Africa to Scotland to Liverpool and beyond. And there are plenty of poems too, again with a wide variety of themes and treatments. There's something for everyone in this collection - and while some will appeal more than others to different readers, and overall the production would have benefitted from the services of an eagle-eyed proofreader to eliminate the occasional punctuation and grammatical blooper, I must applaud the Ink Pantry for their efforts, and congratulate them for producing a very worthwhile and entertaining collection. Here's to the next.
