Book Description

THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE WATER. . .

After his brother's mysterious disappearance, Patrick Russell is told it was a routine drowning. But he feels something much more terrifying is at work.

A BEAST WITH A LUST FOR KILLING . . .

He believes that a rogue creature has risen from the depths and is terrorizing the local beach community. In order to protect the tourist dollars flooding in, the city's politicians and business leaders are unwilling to acknowledge the creature's existence; leaving Patrick as the sole voice of reason as the bodies pile up.

ONLY ONE MAN CAN STOP IT . . .

Risking his life and his sanity, he sets out to uncover a monster that knows neither fear nor compassion, and that has developed a taste for killing . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun holiday read 14 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Anyone who wants to read a book like this shouldn't really expect high literature. If you come in expecting a fun, fast paced and blood-soaked monster fest then you're in for a treat. I enjoyed it a lot and it certainly kept me entertained.

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb - but why no proof reaading?!!! 29 Jun. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was my first Victor Methos book, and it won't be my last! This was a really really good story and thriller. Not what I was expecting actually, as I just thought it would be another 'creature feature' - but I was pleasantly surprised! The main story was about Patrick and his sidekick Christopher, and all the adventures and scrapes they got into. Patrick was a flawed character, who kept having flashbacks to his time in the war. The 'sea creature' was sort of secondary to the main story, which made it all the more exciting when it surfaced (excuse the pun!). Very well written - apart from the author getting Christopher and Patrick's names mixed up in several spots! In one chapter, Patrick was even called Eric, which was most confusing! I can't help but think that this book hadn't been proof read at all, and I've taken off one star for this. The ending was good, but I felt it was a little rushed, and it jumped from our hero being in dire straits at the end of one chapter, to him being back in the Iraq war at the start of the next! It took a few more pages of reading to realise this, and I actually thought I was reading a different book at that point!
That said, I really can't take any more than one star off, as I really did enjoy the whole book, and will definitely be reading many more of Victor Methos books in the future!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story, but..... 14 Nov. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Mmm, read this in 2 days. The story is good, but im not sure about the writing style. The story gripped me enough to read all of the book so it cant be all bad. I applaud anyone who can write a book, cos theyre one step above me! I would have to say any peter Benchley book is the way to go for style and substance. It could have been in that league with just a few tweeks, but didn't quite hit the heights. Anyway, its a good attempt, and well done to Victor Methos on having a go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 15 Aug. 2013
By Wendy

This is the first book I have read by Victor Methos and it will not be the last this is a thriller that has you gripped from the beginning. Who would want to go in a boat or even a yacht when vessels and tourists and local fishermen are disappearing without a trace in the area. I have already recommended this to family.
