5.0 out of 5 stars Daring and engaging, 9 May 2006

This review is from: Scummy Man [DVD] [2006] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC] (DVD)
The Artic Monkeys created their own hype by releasing demos on the internet and selling them at concerts currently they are reaping the success of their very successful debut album. Already they're proving not to be just some one-hit wonder. Recently they released a fine EP in the UK and this DVD. Especially the DVD is an essential edition to their catalog. It shows the Monkeys are more than just the next goodtime party band with sometimes dismal lyrics from the UK. Both films on this short DVD feature a different perspective on a 15 year old prostitute. The result is confronting. The Monkeys force you to ask the right questions, yet leave it to yourself to judge. The end result is a piece of art that says more about yourself and how you value life than it says something about the Monkeys themselves. The Monkeys are wise beyond their age and prove they are able to transcend the medium they're operating in. They are welcome to go beyond it too, R&R has got to little bands these days that show more than just engagement to the fun of three little chords. This DVD shows the Arctic Monkeys are here to stay.
