Cut to Pieces! 22 Dec 2009
Format:DVD
Don't waste your money on this! They let you know that this is the "colorized" version of this great movie. What they DON'T tell you is that it's had almost 20 minutes lopped out of it - a quarter of the entire movie! Great sequences have been lost for what is a cheap and nasty cash-in which treats viewers with contempt.

As a collector of colorised films, I was really looking forward to this, and while the color is up to Legend's usual high standard, the version itself is not, as stated, the 73 minute one, but a severly truncated 60 minute abridgement, and not an entirely successful one at that. In that, when checking it against the original, it is obvious that elements which are vital to the story have been removed, along with the complete final scene which, though not that of Dicken's, fits the end of the particular retelling quite perfectly. What a great pity to have such efforts somewhat wasted. Maybe next year, eh, Legend? Merry Christmas all

This is an excellent film for its period. Sir Seymour Hicks plays Ebenezer Scrooge wonderfully well,
