Biography

German rock-pop band Tokio Hotel are well known throughout Europe after the release of their debut German language album Schrei - so laut du kannst in 2006 and its follow-up in 2007 Zimmer 483. Both albums, released before the band members -- vocalist Bill Kaulitz and guitarist Tom Kaulitz bassist Georg Listing and drummer Gustav Schäfer - were 18, spawned a string of hit singles ... 4.0 out of 5 stars Good in English, GREAT in German! 23 Jun 2007
Format:Audio CD
Tokio Hotel really deserve to make it big in the English-speaking market, and the songs on this album are superb. However, some of them work much better in the original German - such as "Scream". I hope that they can do what Rammstein have achieved, and do well over here without having to abandon their own language entirely!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! 31 Aug 2007
By LD
Format:Audio CD
Tokio Hotel are amazing in both their natvie tongue and in English. Personally I would buy their CDs even if they were only available in German. Why is it that English-speaking countries tend only to listen to songs in English? The lyrics of the songs are very meaningful. I would definately recommend this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Album 18 Jun 2007
By Paul
Format:Audio CD
This album, brought out by Tokio Hotel - German rock stars soon to break into the UK - was definitely the "Album of the year" for me.

The songs, while keeping their original meaning translated from German, have a catchy tune, good beat and are actually quite meaningful. The singer, Bill Kaulitz, has obviously tried extremely hard to speak English well; the result being a slightly Americanized accent, with the lyrics being still audible.

The band have amazing musical ability, write their own songs, are good-looking and despite all of this, are remarkably unpretentious. It's difficult to classify their music; a mixture between pop and rock.

What more can we ask for?

I bought this album for my friend, and it's definitely one of the most successful birthday presents ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantabulous! 27 Jun 2007
Format:Audio CD
I see R. Matzinger came round a second time to share his 'opinion'...so-called. Want a go at Zimmer 483, aswell?
Hasn't got the CD, clearly.

Frankly, he's seems to be in the minority who has no clue how Tokio Hotel write their songs or how much they've tried at such a young age to speak a language outside their mother-tongue.
No respect.
A little fact: these lovely people can't perform if they don't feel the song, so think before you have something against them.

Again, these youths have pulled through with all their old meaningful songs and translated them so they can share their words with a more wider range audience.

Someone please tell me, why are some of the nicest people in the world attacked?

Tokio Hotel are a fantastic rock band from Germany taking a leap into the English market. Their debut English language album is as brilliant as their previous two German language albums, taking the originals and translating them, giving us a chance to appreciate the emotion and intensity behind their lyrics.

I love this album! The English songs are reworked to the effect of sounding completely different to their German counterparts. The album as a whole has a varied and sharp edge to the music - 'Ready, Set, Go' will make you jump around, 'Rescue Me' will make your heart ache, and 'Monsoon' is guaranteed to get you singing along! Definitely my favourite album of the year.

Tokio Hotel are a German rock band who have swept across Europe in just two years. Their sound ranges from thumping rock anthems to power ballads and up until now, those of us who don't speak German have had to get the dictionary out. That never stopped me from listening to their other two albums, Schrei and Zimmer 483, the music transcends language with its expressiveness, but that doesn't mean I'm not glad to be able to listen to TH in my own language as well.

This album is a collection of some of the band's German songs from the other two albums, which had been translated and re-interpreted for the English language. They've done an excellent job, and I challenge anyone not to bop along to 'Ready, Set, Go', chill out to 'Monsoon' and get out the hankies for 'Don't Jump'.

If you like Evanescence, or Nickelback, or Within Temptation you'll love Tokio Hotel. They're on the rise in the English language market!

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive Debut 24 Mar 2010
By L. Wool
Format:Audio CD
About two months ago this band seeped into my consciousness has kept a firm hold. I already liked them, but I wanted to see what else they had to offer and I found out: Scream, their first English-recorded Album - sorry if I get any facts wrong, I'm a new fan - has more than just a few hit singles to keep it going. The songs have angst and hope aplenty; two major teen-based themes. Don't get me wrong, the band were maybe 17 when they recorded this - one could be forgiven for thinking it is a realistic assumption...if their collective talents didn't shine as brightly. From the darkness of Don't Jump, an anti-suicide song, to the hopeful Ready Set Go, a song about breaking free from complacency, this album rocks!

Don't let their good looks fool you, Tokio Hotel is a band that is passionate about their music, a lot of which translate incredibly well to live performances. The main trouble I have is whether I prefer these songs in English or German...
