Book Description

It's mummy madness in the third thrilling story in the Scream Street series. Will our hero Luke ever get this one wrapped up?

Product Description

Scream Street has been shrouded in constant night for as long as the residents can remember, but when the streets become covered with millions of crawling spiders, suffocating everything in their path with their thick webbing, the residents realize they’ve had it easy up until now! Meanwhile Luke and his friends are searching for the third relic of the founding fathers, the heart of an ancient mummy, in their quest to return Luke’s parents to the real world. Matters are further complicated when Cleo’s mother turns up out of the blue, having been supposedly lost at sea and missing for many centuries. Luke becomes suspicious, wondering if there's more to Cleo’s mummy than meets the eye – but can he persuade Cleo and her father to believe him before it’s too late?

Heart of the Mummy 6 Mar 2010
By Jenny, Wondrous Reads TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Things are almost back to normal in Heart of the Mummy, though once again Luke, Resus and Cleo end up in more otherworldly trouble in the form of killer spiders. A prophetic dream, ugly bog monsters and a limelight-hogging mummy jump in to help save the day, and together the residents of Scream Street uncover secrets, lies and a way to get rid of the perpetual darkness.

Scream Street is laugh-out-loud funny, with fantastic characters and amazing cartoon style illustrations. Lily Bernard of Cartoon Saloon provides the art work, and brings Scream Street to life. She has captured each character perfectly and, coupled with Donbavand's text, each book makes for one fun read. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to children, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

This third book in the Scream Street series is an excellent continuation of the childrens' horror stories set in a very spooky street of nightmare neighbours (although they are very nice nightmare monsters except for Sir Sneer).
This book isn't as pun filled as the previous two books and you definitely would need to read the previous books to get much sense of what is going on in this story. The introduction of Cleo's sad family tale, Luke the Werewolfs family being scared of him, scary silent spiders mummifying everything that moves and an increasingly nasty relationship with the baddie 'Sir Sneer' mean this book is more sober than the fun, pun, lighthearted previous books.
The plot of this book revolves around the Tomboy Mummy Cleo plus her family and the quest to gain the next relic - a Mummys heart -to open the door to the 'real world'.
The silent movers who appear in the first book are main characters in this book along with Cleo's 'Daddy Mummy'. Fans will be pleased to know Doug the Zombie and Samuel Skipstone "The man with his head in a book ...literally" are also still making their appearances.
Another four collectors, top trump style cards are at the back of the superbly illustrated and presented book.
A new family the Crudleys are introduced and Fool Spectre of Moantown records - a pun that is likely to be lost on children but makes these books lighthearted fun for adults too. The relationships and interactions between the monster parents and children which is oh so believable in very outlandish and brilliantly imagined settings makes this series work beautifully.
Recommended for children with a reading age of about 7+ who aren't frightened by stories on the scary level of Dr Who.
