'From the first rousing chapter to the last, SCREAM FOR ME is intense, complex, and unforgettable'

(James Patterson )

'A thriller that kicks it into overdrive from the very first paragraph and never once lets up on the gas pedal.  Rose paints her characters with a flesh and blood brush, bringing life to their every word and gesture. Her deep and complex plot races along at a past-the-speed-limit pace; her dialogue is rich and real; and her story is both fresh and frightening. In short, Karen Rose has delivered a first-rate, top-tier thriller. SCREAM FOR ME loudly announces that there could well be a new thriller sheriff in town, so get to it as soon as you can. This is a book that will be talked about all summer long' < (LORENZO CARCATERRA, author of SLEEPERS and CHASERS )

Very unexciting. 23 Nov 2008

Having read "Die for Me" which was absolutely brilliant - I bought this one "Scream for Me" expecting the same writing techinique and brilliance as Die for Me.

I was completely disappointed to see that Karen Rose had reverted to her all intense fantasy sex and romance scenes which, to me, actually overtake and spoil the plot of the story! In my opinion I found it complete rubbish and boring in places and hard going reading wise. Some pages I actually skipped, ie when it went into lengthy heavy breathing and, for example, "he ran his hand up her thigh", "she could feel his hardness pressing against her" etc, etc, .. this is a crime novel, not a Mills and Boons! I remember in one of her earlier books, there was one point when she wrote, quote"

"As he walked into the room, she felt her nipples go erect"

Unquote.

I mean - come on, what a load of tripe! That did deter me from her books as I don't go in for the Mills and Boon type stories at all. But Die for Me was highly rated, so I tried it and it was absolutely excellent; she cut the sex scenes down and concentrated on the actual story plot which was extemely innovative and new.

Added to that, in Scream for Me, no detective worth their salts would share all the details of a multiple-copycat murder investigation of this level with a potential victim. Shame.

I really enjoyed Die for Me .. her writing was unique on that and she played the sex/lovey-dovey scens down. I have nothing against love scence in a book but when I buy a crime/police procedural thriller, I expect it to be that and not filled with fantasy sex and rubbish like that.

I have lost interest in the book, but will finish it anyway, but it is a complete let down on her previous book.

Scream For Me is the sequel to Die For Me. The story centres around FBI agent Daniel Vartanian, who is investigating a string of brutal murders in his local town. Also, returning to the town is Alex Fallon, who step sister has gone missing, and whose twin was murdered in the area, thirteen years earlier.

I did not think this book was as good as it's predecessor. The chemistry between the two main characters is 'hit and miss' at best. I found the storyline a bit convoluted, and as a result it not grab my attention, the way the first book did. Overall, though, Scream For Me, was not a bad thriller, but a bit disappointing when compared with the first book.

What a let down 18 May 2009
Format:Paperback
This is the first and last Karen Rose book I am likely to read. Going by the other reveiws I was optimistic but it's a total car crash of a novel. The plot and characters and wholly unbeliveable and the cringe making romance between the two lead protaganists only serves to add about an extra 150 pages to a book that is already far too long and has lost all sense of control and realism. The lead male investigator is without doubt the least realistic or believable character I have come across in a very long time. How anyone can class this as "unputdownable" is beyond me.
