Having read "Die for Me" which was absolutely brilliant - I bought this one "Scream for Me" expecting the same writing techinique and brilliance as Die for Me.
I was completely disappointed to see that Karen Rose had reverted to her all intense fantasy sex and romance scenes which, to me, actually overtake and spoil the plot of the story! In my opinion I found it complete rubbish and boring in places and hard going reading wise. Some pages I actually skipped, ie when it went into lengthy heavy breathing and, for example, "he ran his hand up her thigh", "she could feel his hardness pressing against her" etc, etc, .. this is a crime novel, not a Mills and Boons! I remember in one of her earlier books, there was one point when she wrote, quote"
"As he walked into the room, she felt her nipples go erect"
Unquote.
I mean - come on, what a load of tripe! That did deter me from her books as I don't go in for the Mills and Boon type stories at all. But Die for Me was highly rated, so I tried it and it was absolutely excellent; she cut the sex scenes down and concentrated on the actual story plot which was extemely innovative and new.
Added to that, in Scream for Me, no detective worth their salts would share all the details of a multiple-copycat murder investigation of this level with a potential victim. Shame.
I really enjoyed Die for Me .. her writing was unique on that and she played the sex/lovey-dovey scens down. I have nothing against love scence in a book but when I buy a crime/police procedural thriller, I expect it to be that and not filled with fantasy sex and rubbish like that.
I have lost interest in the book, but will finish it anyway, but it is a complete let down on her previous book.
