This SOIA album is probably the least accomplised. There are some stand out moments of hardcore brilliance for example Step Down, Desperate Fool and the title track itself. All of these tracks embody what I have come to expect from SOIA, namely pounding and catching punk riffs and thought-provoking lyrical content. This is definitely not an album I would recommend to someone who doesn't already own SOIA albums. First time SOIA fans should check out Call To Arms or Yours Truly. Aother song on "Scratch" to check out is "Consume" with its pounding and srcaping bassline forming the body of the song, whilst Lou Koller adds a brutal harmonic dimension with one of the most distinctive voices on the hardcore scene. Have a look at the band photo on the back of the case. Pete Koller looks much older that he does in the photos from later albums?! Special mention must go to "Step Down" which is, without a doubt, a classic hardcore anthem which I listen to nearly every day to remind myself what life is about...

Sick Of It All ARE hardcore, they are the sound that every vest wearing tattooed New York-a-be wants to be, period. One of the other reviews mentions that this 'is probably the least accomplised' S.O.I.A album, well, it pre-dates 'Call To Arms' and 'Yours Truly' by the best part of a decade and was the album that re-ignited the N.Y.H.C. sound to it's very best. The title track, 'No Cure' & 'Maladjusted' are bonafide classics, and that's before I even mention 'Step Down'. Yeah, buy 'Call To Arms' (another 5* outing) and 'Yours Truly' (a solid 4*), in fact buy the whole S.O.I.A back catalogue, but this is the album that defined a band and a genre.

..... This is a HARDCORE cd so don't buy it if you are not into that kind of music. They are one of the most talented hardcore bands out there. The vocals are great, so are the lyrics. If you listen to hardcore definatly pick this one up it's well worth the money. If you like what you hear see them live. They put on a great show!!!
