This is far and away Erics best album and is crying out for a release on cd. A lot of his earlier material seems to have been badly served by the cd age.

Eric Bogle is one of the most compelling lyricists ever. 6 May 1998
By marksisk@seanet.com - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
On so many compelling themes, Eric Bogle has composed some of the most meaningful and artistic lyrics and music of anyone I have ever heard. His thematic range is virtually unlimited. From anti-war to social conscientious themes on children and the elderly he blows me away with the creativity and flow of his words and music. I have heard him live in concert here in Ballard (Seattle) and was not disappointed. Anyone who is moved by socially compelling themes in a folk/coffee house style should become familiar with Eric Bogle. He also has a lot of fun, funny, lively, music as well! I put him right up there with Pete, Seger, Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springstine.

extremely moving and well presented, a quality album for all 16 July 1999
By kweir@tranzrail.co.nz - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I had the pleasure to hear eric live @ a festival in Dunedin, NZ 15+ yrs ago. After which I purchased this album on tape and it still brings me pleasure to this day, particularly last track side 2. I have passed this to other people of all ages recently and they have all enjoyed listening to Eric and his music. I would totally recommend to all this album.

Heartfelt sad songs 3 Aug. 2005
By Oregon Brother Dave - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I was quite impressed by the man's terrific tenor voice. I bought the album for the songs, never having heard him sing. What a nice surprise!

The only down point was that, as a folk music lover,I thought the album was overproduced. However,I will buy more...

Anzac Day 23 April 2005
By cjpete - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I heard "And they played Waltzing Matilda" on CBC for Anzac Day. I almost had to park for the weeping. This song has implications for the fighting in Iraq.

Must have album 23 Dec. 2000
By Frances A. Kennedy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I started listening to this album about 15 years ago and still appreciate every cut on it. I identify with Eric Bogel and appreciate his talent both as a writer and a singer. Starting with Scraps of Paper and on through the rest of the album, there is not a bad cut.
