4.0 out of 5 stars unrelenting and disturbing 29 Oct 2008
Format:DVD
having watched all the august underground and guinea pig films i did not think there was anything left to shock me, boy was i wrong! scrapbook holds nothing back and throws extreme violence and sadistic torture in your face, this is not a film in which you can sit and enjoy, but its more of an endurance test, both the acting and the on screen violence is very realistic and deeply disturbing, not once does this film let up, but keeps you watching to see if the girl actually escapes, be warned this film is in the same taste as the august underground series and if easily offended by horrific sexualised violence then i would not bother purchasing this but if you want to see how far a movie can actually go then i would recommend this.

The film takes the viewer on a no holds barred journey into the twisted and disturbed mind of a killer. It is very extreme in portraying just how ill the kidnapers mind is. I am commenting on the US release here not the uk version which is cut to shreads by some 15 minutes !

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest films ever 31 Mar 2013
Scrapbook is an amazing film (make sure you get the Region 1 uncut, as UK region 2 is cut by 15 minutes). It has an intense realism throughout. The film involves a serial killer who has imprisoned another victim at his house. He keeps a scrapbook of his bloody history and photographs and films everything. Throughout the film he rapes and abuses the female and films her ordeal which he replays for her. The rape scenes in the film are brutal, violent and realistic; they are amazingly shot with highly competent direction. It also includes some gore and violence which is unpleasant. This is a near perfect film the script, plotting, direction, lighting, editing are all faultless for this type of film and the leading actress puts in an amazing performance, better than most Oscar winners. It was shot over 13 days on a minute budget and in my opinion one of the greatest films ever made. A must see.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am floored!!!! 29 May 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I recently had the chance to see this DVD. Part of me wishes I never had viewed this disturbing movie.
While watching SCRAPBOOK I felt dirty! It felt like at any moment SWAT officers were going to bust down my fron door and take me in for contributing to the badness of society!!!
After the movie was over I sat back and reflected on the experience. And this is the conclusion that I came to:
SCRAPBOOK is the most honest, brutal, powerful, and true look at a serial killer that I have ever seen! The camera does NOT shy away from the violence. It feels like the viewer is dropped in the middle of a serial killers life. And you see EVERYTHING!!!
If you want a glossy Hollywood movie...look elsewhere!
But if you are looking for brilliant, raw and powerful filmmaking then this is your movie!
HIGHLY reccommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another gem from Eric Stanze and friends! 26 Oct 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

This movie is not for the timid. Low budget assault on your sense of right and wrong. In the footsteps of "I Spit On Your Grave" it takes you one step further into the mind of true madness. The sound quality rises and falls creating hushed converstaions (turn it up) to loud screams (turn it down) so real it is sure to get the neighbors dialing 911. If you are not offended by extremely realistic bloody rape scenes then give this one a look.
As with Ice From The Sun, Stanze puts it all on the screen. The plot here is simple but executed with a real quality sure to offend anyone. Ths acting here is excellent, but I wonder how much is acting (except by "Leonard" played by the departed Tommy Biondo) and how much is reacting to the sequences they are a part of. "True horror is simply what one human being can do to another"

3.0 out of 5 stars Biond-o Belief 27 Oct 2002
By Nick Ferrara - Published on Amazon.com
I first read a review about 'Scrapbook' in Rue Morgue magazine. After getting up the guts to finally buy it, I can say the hype from the article as well as the reviews on various websites does not prepare you for what you are about to watch. This is a tough film to look at. That being said, it is a better than average horror movie. All the credit in the world belongs to Tommy Biondo and Emily Haack for really going all out. The realistic mock-documentary feel to the movie makes the brutality that much more disturbing. As a lifelong fan and collector of all kinds of horror movies, I enjoy and appreciate when a movie is capable of shocking me. 'Scrapbook' did it. It is a very well done movie worthy of a place in any true horror fan's library.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Darn Bad 27 Dec 2007
By K. Draheim - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Basically what you have here is a director who seems incompetent and a writer without much skill. The actor/writer of the film is not doing this for anything other than his own depraved interests. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of exploitation in my cinema, but this is utterly boring and self serving. I mean BORING. Even the 'rape' scenes were lame. By the end of the movie, you get the impression that Biondo and Stanze just wanted to treat a girl like a pig.

Pros: Brave Emily Haak. She gives it an extra star for her fearlessness.

Cons: cinematography, pacing, writing, editing, ACTING. There are more, I am sure.
