Format: Hardcover
This book chronicles the experiences of one of the allies greatest aces of the second world war. The author joined up just before the war and his first victory took place during the Battle of Britain. He fought predominantly at night, although later in the war, flying Mosquitos, he did carry out day time intruder missions shooting down a number of aircraft including 2 FW190s, one of which he bettered in a turning dogfight. Most of his other victories came in the dark, with the help of his navigator/AI operator. He was eventually shot down during an intruder mission and became a POW. The book starts with the dogfight that resulted in his demise. A cracking start to the book.

This book is very well written. After reading Night Fighter (Fighter pilots) and Cover of darkness (both great reads) this book is the perfect complement. Braham was the kind of tenacious pilot that you just wouldn't want to tangle with. As you read you get a real taste of his aggressive style and his single-minded will to mix it with the enemy. This is an exciting book from start to finish and I would recommend it to anyone.
