Book Description

A man who protects the balance between worlds.
A woman who is haunted by her past.
A group of demons wanting both their souls.
A twist of fate that binds them both together.

Jena wanted nothing more than a nice quiet vacation in the highlands of Scotland, what she got was much more than her travel brochure ever described. Toss in a man who is more arrogant than any she's met in the past, and demons hell bent on driving her insane, and her vacation is about to turn extremely chaotic.

Finding Erick half dead from a gunshot wound, Jena learns there is more at stake than just her fear of falling in love. If she doesn't hurry Erick might die and the demons of her nightmares will finally win what they've been after.

Their souls.

1.0 out of 5 stars Scottish Rubbish 6 July 2012

I'm still not sure what the book was about; the plot was feeble, plot lines reiterative, dialogue predictable. Apart from some reasonably accurate description of the truly lovely Scottish Highlands, there was nothing about the book that kept the interest. A waste of (admittedly not much) money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scottish Whispers by R. G. Porter 30 April 2012
By Kindle Customer - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
We at Parent's Little Black Book love a little romance in our lives. Scottish Whispers delivers not only on the romance but on the story.

Jena has a little bit of fey in her. She knows when things are going to go wrong. But not always in time to save herself or those she loves. After a girls night with her best friend she knows something is wrong. Hurrying home her worst fears are realized.

As Jena tried to cope with her sorrow she throws herself into her work leaving all thoughts of a personal life behind. She works long hours dedicated to her company. But her supervisor knows that Jena is on the edge and insists she take a vacation. A long one. Her job will be waiting for her return.

After seeing a travel agent recommended by her employers she decides on a hiking trip to Scotland. Something tells her that the agent is correct in her recommendation. Could it be the voice she hears? The male voice telling her he is her destiny. Her past, her present, her future. Will this vacation be the turning point in her life?

Does Jena find love on the mystical hiking trails of Scotland? That part I can't tell you. I don't want to spoil the story. But it is a romance novel so I think you know something good is in Jena's future. Something with a gorgeous man maybe? Will there be kilts?

Nicely written with good flow and presentation Scottish Whispers is one of my favorites this year. As a widow I identified with Jena's heartbreak and her inability to move forward with her personal life. Her struggle to understand how she now fit into the world was one I have faced myself. I was happy to walk with her through her journey as she finds the courage to open her heart once again.

Ms. Porter always finds a way in her novels to draw us in and bring us along with her characters. Her dialogue has a bit of snap to it and brings smiles even through the hard times the characters face. The ability to bring people to life is her forte' and she always gives us a good story and a bit of mystery to go with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good premise 14 Mar. 2015

I enjoyed the premise of this story but felt it was poorly developed and needed a lot of editing and proofreading. Repeated explanation of Jena's issues detracted from the plot and there was never an explanation of the demons or why they were after her.
